Day 12

Day 12! The best day of my life. I woke up and felt like singing (Please note if I did, I probably would have killed any signs of life within a 10km radius) I danced into the hall and ate my toast. Let me tell you, that toast has never tasted better in my life, I had about 5 pieces it was so good. Everyone had pack up activities but I didn’t care I was on dishes and kitchen duty, I was leaving!

I washed everyone’s breakfast dishes with the biggest smile on my face id ever had in my life. We then had to pack up our tents and once we emptied out all of our luggage and mats, I was surprised at what I had been sleeping on for the past 12 days. The mats were absolutely soaked with water, they hadn’t absorbed all of it because the bottom of the tent was still saturated. There were dead bugs and worms that had drowned in the water and I started to gag. The thought of me sleeping on that for 12 days almost made me throw up the five pieces of toast I ate. What was worse was cleaning them all out of the tent.

After I packed up my home for the past 12 days, I waited patiently until the bus was ready to take us home. It wasn’t before long we were on the bus and the directors were giving us speeches on how great we were and how they would miss us (Biggest lie of the year).

One of them went a little like this-

“It’s been so great to see all of you work so well together in all the activities. You guys have been really awesome throughout this whole camp and I wish you all the best in the rest of your school years”

My response was to kick them off the bus and drive away as fast as possible, “accidentally” running over their toes. Honestly, they could not have made the camp worse from refusing to let us dry our tent to not knowing I was missing for 20 minutes. Thanks a lot guys, I’m really going to miss you (note sarcasm).

The bus started to take us down the dirt track and through the dimensions they drove us through when they brought us here. I didn’t look back once the entire bus ride home.

Halfway back, we stopped off on a street with a ton of fast food places so we could get ourselves some lunch. First stop was McDonalds. I walked in and literally said this word for word.

“Um hi, can I please have a large quarter pounder meal with chicken McBights and an apple pie thanks?”

I looked back at the cashier who I felt was a little rude when she smirked at how much I was ordering. By the way, cashier, if you’re reading this right now and have read all the chapters before this, you will now know that was nothing to smirk about.

I scoffed down the McDonald’s but I wasn’t finished yet, there was a Hungry Jacks 2 doors down! I slipped in there for few seconds just to order a sundae. Finished that and went into KFC for some popcorn chicken and chips for the ride home. What a day. We arrived back at school and the minute I saw other people I almost started to cry. No one would come near me though because I stunk like crap, as did everyone in my class.

I got home and took the longest shower I had ever taken in my life. I laid down on my bed took a quick nap. Then I woke up and went on my laptop. It felt so good.

Well that was the story of my 12 days at Camp Nether. I’m sure you can all agree it was pretty shitty. Everything went back to normal after that horrific experience. And just in case you’re wondering, my subject selection did go smoothly (sort of). Next time you arrive at school and see the principal’s office or main office is busy, just think, that’s probably me in there trying to reselect my subjects, because after I filled in the selection form and sent it in, I realised Outdoor and recreation students need to spend 9 days at camp Nether that makes up for 25% of their mark.

That was the 12th and final chapter of 12 Days at Summer Camp. I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
