--------------- Chapter Twelve-------------

The next morning went too quickly. I was woken by mum, then we had a last breakfast with the Doctor and Rose, I tried to drag the morning out, collecting my few possessions from obscure places around the TARDIS and putting them into a rucksack. Finally I couldn't put it off any longer, and mum led me to the console room with my bag on my back and my screwdriver sticking out of my jeans pocket. The Doctor and Rose were waiting for us. I could tell Rose had been crying, cos her eyes were red and her makeup smudged but she'd obviously pulled herself together so that she could say goodbye. Mum told the Doctor something I couldn't hear and he started working on the controls; the TARDIS dematerialised and then landed. I walked over to the door and looked outside. Bright sunlight, Earth, 2013, we were right outside our old house. The last time I was here was when the Silents attacked, though I'd been near here, when I was living with that other family as a human. I closed the door and walked back over to where the others were.

"Our house?" mum asked me.

I nodded.

"Well I guess we'd better be going then." She said cheerily. She shook the Doctors hand. "Nice meeting you, Doctor. Thank you for looking after me and Katelyn. You've been a good friend."

"You're welcome." The Doctor nodded at her. Mum turned to Rose.

"Thank you as well." She said. Rose gave her a hug goodbye.

"I'll wait outside then shall I?" Mum asked, then walked out of the TARDIS, leaving us alone to say goodbye.

The Doctor and Rose converged on me, and gave me a big hug.

"We'll miss you." they said, pulling back.

"You've been amazing Katelyn." The Doctor told me. "You've saved our lives more than once and I honestly don't know what we did without you."

"You're the bravest girl I know Katelyn." Rose blinked tears out of her eyes. "And I really hope you find your Doctor."

"Thanks guys." I replied, tears starting to stream down my face. "I'm... I'm just so glad I met you." I hugged them both again, then stepped back, adjusting my rucksack.

"Goodbye." I managed to get out and I walked out the TARDIS doors, tears still sliding down my cheeks. I heard the TARDIS start to materialise behind me and turned to see Rose waving at me from the entrance as it disappeared. Then it was gone; and it was like the life I'd lived with them was lost forever.

Mum turned and gave me a hug, and I sobbed into her shoulder. Once I'd stopped crying, I stood back and wiped my face with my sleeve.

"So how are we going to find dad?" I asked mum.

She smiled sneakily at me. "We're not."

"What? But mum-" I burst out.

"He's coming to get us." Mum interrupted, shaking her hair out so it went frizzy again.

"How do you know that?" I asked her.

"Psychology." She exclaimed. I stared at her, uncomprehending, until she gave in and explained.

"I told the Doctor these coordinates and said that we'd be waiting here when he catches up to our point in time. So if I'm right, after the last time he sees us, the Doctor will remember that he left us here and he'll come to get us right about...." The wind started to pick up around us. "....now."

The TARDIS materialisation noise could be heard as the beautiful blue box started to appear right next to us.

"Mum, that's brilliant!" I yelled over the noise. Then the wind died down and the TARDIS landed.
