--------------- Chapter Eleven-------------

“Mum.” I breathed, happier than anything. I’d been starting to worry that she’d never wake. I held her hand as she turned her head towards me.

“Katelyn?” Mum said faintly.

“Yeah it’s me.” I replied, and squeezed her hand.

“Where are we?” she asked me.

“We’re in the TARDIS.” I told her. “You’ve been out for a while.”

“Was I in a coma?” she looked up at me.

“Of some sort yes.” I said. “The Silence hurt you pretty bad.”

“They were trying to find out how to find you.” Mum told me. “I couldn’t let them know.”

“Oh mum.” I was close to tears now. “They tortured you.”

“I’m fine now.” Mum answered. “Really.” She splayed her head back on the bed. “Of course the fricking Silence had to find us. The one species I’ve struggled to fight my entire life.”

I didn’t say anything.

“Where’s the Doctor?” Mum asked. She tried to sit up and groaned in pain.

“Don’t sit up.” I told her, pushing her back down gently. “The Doctor’s in the console room, but there’s something I should tell you before you see him.”

“Yes?” Mum waited expectantly.

I took a deep breath. “I kind of found the wrong Doctor.” I blurted out.

“What?” Mum exclaimed.

“I’m sorry, it was an accident!” I apologised hurriedly. “I used the key to find him but when I came into the TARDIS I realised it wasn’t the right him. It’s him in his tenth regeneration, and he’s travelling with Rose.”

“Okay.” Mum thought for a moment. “What did you tell him?”

“The truth, that we’re from his future and that there were people after us.” I told her.

“Alright, good job.” She said. “Once I’m good again we can go and find our Doctor.”

I nodded. “Do you want something to eat?” I asked.

“Yes please, honey.” Mum smiled weakly.

“Ok, I’ll be back soon.” I told her. “I’ll go and tell the Doctor you’re awake while I’m getting you food. By the way, he knows you as Melody Williams. I thought it might stuff something up if I told him your real name.”

“Good girl.” Mum said, closing her eyes and lying flat once more.

“See you soon.” I headed back through the TARDIS towards the console room, grinning with pleasure. My mum was awake! It’d been such a long time without her but now she was awake and we’d be going home soon. I stopped off in the kitchen room and got mum a tray of food and a drink. I carried it towards the console room and pushed the door open one handed. The Doctor and Rose turned as I walked in.

“What’s that for?” the Doctor pointed to the tray in my hands.

“My mum finally woke up.” I told them, grinning.

“Oh Katelyn, that’s fantastic!” Rose exclaimed. “She must be hungry, though, no wonder.”

I nodded. “Doctor did you want to come see her?”

“Will she be alright with that?” he asked.

“Of course she will.” I said. “I told her I’d come get you anyway.”
