ch 8

Lucy POV

     I was up nice and early considering I barely sleep anymore. Even if I do though it's nothing, but nightmares. Happy's noticed that and offer to sleep with me to comfort me, but I always decline. My magic has been leaking out violently recently especially when I sleep. I don't know what's wrong but I still don't want to go see Porcylucia unless I absolutely have to (sp?).

      "Lucy?" A tired voice says snapping me out of my thoughts.

       "Hey Happy! Good morning! I cooked up some scrambled eggs. Want some?" I ask and he eagerly nods before flying over.

        I finish cooking up eggs and bacon for Natsu when he walks down the stairs. His hair was everywhere and he was rubbing his eyes! So adorable! I smile as I place the plate in front of him when he sits.

        "Thanks Lucy!" He says and I nod before walking over to fix him and Happy some milk and juice.

         "When do we meet Warren at the train station?" I ask and he stops shoveling food in his mouth.

          "Noon!" He says before gulping down his drink.

          "This'll be fun! Just like old times!" Happy yells while chowing down.

       "Of course it will!" I say and they both smile oblivious to the tension in my voice. Other than the fact I'm not allowed to do anything, but mimick them. I wash the dishes when their done as they get ready. I wordlessly grab my pack, place my cloak on, and head down to the market.

Natsu POV

        I walk out of my room after dressing hoping to talk to Lucy a bit before we have to meet Warren, but she's gone.

       "She went out!" Happy says above me. I look up at him and smile.

        "Where'd ya think she's gone?" I ask and he hums.

        "She has a basket." He says and I know what she went. I walk down with Happy while easily avoiding heavy crowds. I spot her at a fruit stand buying some mangos. They were pricy but she managed to haggle it down plenty. It was interesting to watch her flare her fingers with numbers at the lady. 

        "All right!" The lady laughs before holding up two fingers. "Two mango for fifty jewels." She says and Lucy gives her a thumbs up. I walk over.

         "This is where you went." I say and she jumps. The fruit lady smiles.

          "Good to see you out of that house Natsu. I was planning to check on you until that nice Mira girl updated me." She says and I scratch the back of my head.

         "Yeah! Sorry about that. I heard I had given you quite a scare." I apologise as I watch Lucy wander off. She hates me following her around, but I can't help it. I need to know that she's safe.

         "You know that girl? She showed up recently. All of us merchants here have noticed that she doesn't speak or show her face. She always has that cloak on. Who is she?" She asks and I bite the inside of my cheek. I thought about this last night and remember yesterday. How do I introduce her? What do I call her?

      "She- well I call her Lanai. She can't speak because her throat was slit, but it healed wrong. So it hurts her to speak and she's still learning sign language so she can't properly communicate. The cloak is to protect the other wounds she got from that attack. Dust, wind, and other irritations make them hurt. So she wear the cloak to reduce the pain since she refuses to stay in bed." I lie and the lady smiles.
