"y/n... are you okay? What are you doing here?"

y/ n's p.o.v

My eyes open, lazily and everything is blurry. All I can make out is a boy about my ag- Oh my god. It's Noah. What is he doing here? I must have run to his house by accident, muscle memory. I would go to his house every time I was sad or alone in this toxic world and this time was no different. We lived in New York City so our condos were relatively close and in walking distance.

Noah asks me something along the lines of "Are you okay?" and "Why are you here?"  I can hardly hear him though. over the ringing in my ears. All sounds have been drowned out like a helpless kid buried beneath miles and miles of water, what a waste! a lost cause, A tragic ending to a not so perfect life. This kid is helpless. This kid is me. Helpless. I don't respond to Noah. I mean... how could I? My mom hit me. That thought clouds my mind. "What drives a person to have so much hatred that they would hit their own flesh and blood?!"

Noah offers his hand to help me up. I accept, graciously. Once we got inside He sat me down on his bed. "What's the matter? Why were you lying on the sidewalk in front of my house? You had me worried sick!" I explain everything to him. He hugs me tight, not wanting to let me go. Reluctantly he does. He stands up to go tell his mom in the other room. She gasps. I hear her say to Noah "Stay in here. I'll go talk to her." She walks in and tells me "Noah told me what happened, trust me your mother is a good person and I know this might be hard to believe now, but it probably is all the stress from paying off you and your sister's hospital bills. I'm sure she didn't mean to and she's very sorry, But you can stay at my house as long as you need, sweetie" "Thank you" I tell her, tears streaming down my face.  Noah walks back in and hugs me once again. He notices me crying. "Hey, hey... don't cry, baby" Why don't I take you somewhere to take your mind off of this." Noah takes my hand and we walk out the front door.

As we ambled along the moonlit path, we listened to the symphony of crickets in the woods around us. Finally, Noah stops walking. "Babe... look up," Noah says fondly. I looked up from my shoes and I see the cherry blossom tree where Noah and I shared our first REAL kiss. Except there were bright, white LED lights strung around the beautiful, tree with the pale pink flowers. And underneath the tree was a table set for two.
