I have another snow day tomorrow cause there's a huge blizzard going on outside that's why I lost power. If I finish another chapter I'll post it but I think I'm gonna be working on my Reddie story tomorrow because I'm falling behind on the chapters that I have written ahead of time and I want to wrap that story up soon. Anyway, here you go. I hope you like this one. **
Emily did not want to go to school.
She woke up late, which was already a bad start because she just got grumpier. Her hair was a mess and she didn't have enough time to dry it so she had to put it in a ponytail, which sucked because she had been planning on wearing it down for the day. Her favorite outfit wasn't clean, so she had to settle for her overalls with a white T-shirt on underneath. One of the straps didn't connect and the front folded over a bit. She threw on her sneakers and put in her contacts. It wasn't a special occasion, but she really wasn't in the mood to feel subconscious about how big they made her eyes look, so she left them on her bedside table.
She ate a granola bar (without chocolate chips) for breakfast and brushed her teeth quickly, throwing on a blue baseball cap that matched the light faded blue color of her overalls. She stuck her ponytail through the back of the hat and put on a pair of sunglasses since she would be riding against the sunrise. Her bag looked unbearably heavy that morning, and upon picking it up, she found that it was indeed very heavy. Nori has slept in since she rode the bus anyway, but Emily had to get a head start if she wanted to get there in time, so she hauled ass out the door after using her five spare minutes to squeeze as much moisture out of her thick hair as she could.
The ride to school was a long one. At least, it felt like it. In reality, it probably only took her about ten minutes. When Emily got there, she locked her bike on the rack and headed inside, dumping the contents of her bag into her locker and only taking out her first two period binders. English and math were first, like usual. She stuffed her sunglasses in her bag. Emily closed her locker after removing a fresh pencil from her bag as well as her copy of To Kill a Mockingbird, pondering whether she should even try to see Alex that morning. If Nori was really planning on meddling in this then there was no way she was going to win. Alex had practically said that he liked her better because he knew her better, so once he knew how perfect Nori was there was no way he would want anything to do with Emily anymore.
She sighed, glancing across the hall at her sister. The girl was standing at her locker with her friends surrounding her, laughing like nothing was wrong. Because to her, nothing was wrong. She wanted a new boy toy, and as far as she knew, Emily didn't like the one she wanted. No reason for her not to go after Alex, regardless of the fact that she had a boyfriend. She would just break up with him. Asher was a jerk anyway, but that would probably just make one more boy for Emily to deal with since he was in her health class.
The brunette sighed heavily, leaning back against her locker. Justin was nowhere to be seen. Why were they late?
It occurred to Emily that they were probably letting Alex take his time since it was his first day. As if on cue, the two boys turned the corner, and Emily straightened up. Justin waved, nudging Alex and pointing in her direction. Alex's eyes lit up upon spotting Emily, and the girl's heart skipped a beat. She watched as he actually picked up his pace, getting a few steps ahead of Justin as he approached her.
"Hey, Emily!" He had an almost hopeful tone, as if he was afraid she would tell him to go away. Emily smiled instead, poking his cheek.
"Hey, Alex. Told you that I'd be here, didn't I?" She rolled her eyes as Justin made a lovey-dovey face from behind Alex, and pointed at the boy. But inside, her heart rate increased. What was Justin implying?
