Jennifer's POV:

I'd finished my shift at work. Jake and I have really hit it off. He invited me out for a date at some nice Chinese restaurant. He was late though... I was about to leave. This was a humiliating night. I wondered how many two-fours I had at home. Kristie was texting me about something that was going on with her and Mark, but I wasn't really in the mood to talk.

As I walked out of the door, I saw Jake.

"A bit late, aren't you?", I said sarcastically.

"Yeah, but I'm really sorry. Curling practice took longer than usual, and I went home to get all cleaned up because I wanted to make a good impression," he explained.

"Well, you're too late," I retorted. I started to walk away and tear up. To my surprise, however, he followed me, and before long, he was walking right next to me.

"Just give me a chance," he said. "We can go anywhere and still try to make the best of tonight."

I was surprised. Regardless of his being late, he's really a great guy! We walk down the street to a park. Coincidentally, there's a free concert going on, so we decided to just relax out there. We ordered a pizza and some cannolis, and we actually had a great time. The band started to play a slow song, and Jake asked me to dance. I rested my head on his shoulder and knew that I didn't want this to end.

That night could've been a train-wreck, but it turned out to be great.

We walked to the nearby harbour, walked to the end of the longest dock, and sat there for a while. As the Canadian breeze blew past us like sailing ships, we kissed. This was an absolutely magical night. I've got a lot to tell Kristie.

Jake's POV:

That night turned out better than I expected. I took Jenn to the park, we danced, we ate great food and kissed on a harbour dock as boats sailed past us. I hope she enjoyed that night as much as I did.
