[Author's Note: I'm trying out a new format for this story. Notice how this looks more like an actual book. I dunno if I'm gonna keep writing chapters like this, but y'know...]

[Still Author's Note: I'm still gonna be updating this so I can make this a fluid and as understandable and as enjoyable as possible, so just keep that in mind. All constructive comments are accepted.]

It was the day of the picnic. Mark, Mick, Jake, Cynthia, Jennifer and Kristie were all there.

Mark was crammed in between Kristie and Cynthia.

'This is gonna be interesting to say the least,' thought Mark. 'I'm picking up on some tension. Does Kristie know that when she left Cynthia arrived? Regardless,  let's just hope we have a good time.'

'So... this is Micklós. He's gonna be hanging out with us for the school year,' Mark said, introducing Mick.

'No really, Sherlock,' Jenn responded.

'Jenn's always so blunt with everything,' thought Mark. 'I love it.'

'Cynthia violated Mark on the same day he kissed me,' thought Kristie, her head whirling. She was having a hard time wrapping her head around everything that recently happened. 'Did he know this would hurt me? Sometimes I can read him pretty well but other times I can't read him for the life of me! Cynthia is kind of my friend so I have to be nice. I don't want to make this a bad experience for anyone....'

But Cynthia wasn't the only one: Jennifer was also having a hard time coping with all of this. She remembered how magical her night with Jake was, but she also recalled how her and Jake were talking not too long ago and she felt as if things were different between them.

'There's Jake!' Jennifer thought, her face lightening up a bit, despite her uncertainty on the status of their relationship. 'He's so perfect with that gelled-up blonde hair, his ocean-like blue eyes and his cute black jacket.'

Once she was done admiring Jake's physical appearance, she thought: 'I don't even know if we're ready for a relationship.'

*Cynthia couldn't stop feeling angry. She couldn't  help but think that Kristie was trying to steal Mark away from her, and she was not having that. She was angry that Kristie thought that she would be oblivious to the whole affair; she lives within eyesight-range of the beach.

'Don't think that you can just take Mark away from me,' Cynthia thought about telling Kristie. 'I know you were at the beach with him. I can literally see my house from here.'

Despite wanting to tell Kristie all of this, she kept her mouth shut and thought about how she'd have to just play it nice with Kristie. For now at least...

Cynthia decided that even though Jake would be a decent boyfriend, that she loved Mark beyond what words could convey. She decided to take off her sweater so Mark could have a better view of her body.

Jennifer's POV:

Ugh! Cecelia is definitely trying to show off Mark. She took off her sweater! She never takes that thing off! As if that wasn't enough, she's also wearing some 'trendy' glasses. Does Mark even like her?

Mick's POV:

Wow! Even for a group of Canadians these people seem quiet! This is nice though. We've got a nice view of the lake (it's much greener than I pictured) and Jake and I went swimming.

I consider Jake to be my best friend. He's super fun, super playful and super chill.  He's also one of the best people on our curling team.

Jake went underwater and grabbed my foot. I was super scared because I thought something was trying to eat me. Jake realised that he frightened me and hugged me to try and apologise. He pressed his whole body up against mine and I think I felt his stiffened reproductive part. He tried to tell me that he was thinking about Jenn, but I don't buy that. Despite my coming from a fairly gay-hostile country, I really don't care. Anyone can like whoever. I couldn't care less! Besides, would it really be bad if I kind of liked it?

Jake's POV:

I took Mick out for his first swim in Lake Ontario. I admire Mick for a bunch of reasons, but the first one is because of his bravery to move to a different country on a different continent and start a new life at a school where he knows no one. I'm hoping he has luck with finding friends and also, hopefully, a girlfriend. He's pretty attractive so I don't see a reason why he would have a hard time dating.

I hope he's having a good time. I feel bad for grabbing his foot because it scared him a lot. I tried to apologise and hug him, but it was so super awkward because I had a hard-on! I tried to tell him it was because I was thinking of Jenn, but I don't even know if that's true. I don't think he believes me either, but whatever.

Mark's POV:

I forgot my water bottle. I asked Jenn if I could borrow her water bottle for a sip. She said that she didn't mind and that she'd homemade lemonade. I took a big sip and to my surprise, the lemonade had some vodka in it. At first, all I wanted to do was spit out the horrid concoction but then I realised that it might help me de-stress a bit. I took a few more sips and I felt better.

Cynthia called me over to put some lotion on her and then she wanted a massage. I was fine with that. When I finished, I asked her if she'd like to put lotion on me. She eagerly took up the task and before I knew it, her hands were all over me. Soon enough, both of her arms were around me. Then she grabbed at my lap region while her chest pressed into my back. I told her that this wasn't the time nor the place to do such a thing. She agreed then went for a quick swim with Mick and Jake. I went back over to Jenn and Kristie.

Kristie's POV:

I saw Cynthia trying to make a move on Mark and I was glad he didn't accept it. Mark's was laying on his back next to me with his shades on. I turned to him.

'Is it bad that I want a shark to bite her? Well, maybe not a shark, but a decent-size fish? Y'know, something to just freak her out a little?' I asked.

Mark chuckled.

'How about she just sees a big crab and gets scared. I don't wanna see anyone getting hurt,' said Mark.

I couldn't believe how blissfully unaware he was.

'Couldn't he see how emotionally wounding it was for me to Cynthia touching him?' I thought.

I giggled and focused on watching the waves gently lapping up onto the sand.

'Hey guys, I'm gonna head home,' said Cynthia. 'This was fun! Let's do this again sometime.'

Soon enough the picnic was over and all who remained dispersed and headed home.

'Hey Mick!' called Jake. 'We should hang out sometime soon, maybe without all of this drama!'

'Yeah, that'd be nice,' said Mick. 'I'm sure Mark wouldn't mind if you came over sometime.'

'Yeah, I don't mind,' said Mark. 'Make some new friends, have some fun.'

'Are you guys free next weekend?' Jake asked.

'I think so. Just come over after practice on Friday or Saturday,' Mark replied.

'Sounds good! See you guys at school tomorrow,' said Jake.
