Y/N P.O.V

You woke up, your head pounding. Thoughts of being rejected, rejected from this new life filled your head. It was the life you'd always dreamed of having. But, you accepted the fact that there was no going back, not now.

You saw some clothes laid out for you, lying on the floor. After getting dressed, you heard a knock on your door. You opened the door, and it was Bart to your surprise. His green eyes met your own, a smile lighting up his features.

"C-can I come in?" He asked, running a hand through his scarlet red hair.

"Of course, come on in." You replied, gesturing for him to enter.

He walked in at your response, beginning a simple conversation.

"Are you nervous?" He started.

"Actually, yeah." You replied honestly. "I'm just scared of getting rejected, because there's nowhere else for me to go."

"So, are you going to tell me why?" Bart questioned. "Or am I going to have to force you, with my good looks and charm."

You mustered up a giggle at his humor. Even after all you've been through, you still shock yourself with your emotions.

"Well, there isn't much to tell." You began. "My family was never normal, I would always pretend we were. But pretending only made it more obvious."

Remembering all this seemed to choke at your emotions, and Bart noticed this.

"It's okay, you don't want to tell me if it's too hard." He reassured, placing a hand over your own.

"No, it's alright, I'm going to have to eventually. My family wasn't normal because my mom died—before I got to meet her, and my dad gave me up for adoption."

"I'm so sorry, Y/N." Bart stated, sympathy lacing his voice.

"Bart...there's nothing you could've done," You exclaimed, appreciating his concern. "No one wanted to adopt me, so I had to escape. I couldn't stand being in that place any longer."

"Why? Weren't you safe there?"

"I was." You claimed. "But the thought of other people leaving, of being stuck there forever just killed me. It made me feel unloved and forgotten."

"I understand. I know what it feels like, when you just need to escape."

"Thanks, Bart." You said, wrapping your arms around him in a light hug.

"No problem, Y/N." He replied as you pulled away from the hug.

"Now, get out of here." You joked, punching him on the shoulder lightly.

He faked a look of pain, which caused you laugh. In that moment of laughter, you realized you were falling for this boy right in front of you. You were falling for the boy whom you had just met.

After feeling accomplished because he made you laugh, Bart ran off. Then you proceeded towards the area in which Black Canary told you to meet her. It was time to receive some answers.
