"What time was it? Where am I?" Jace asked himself after a small black out. The car rolled fifteen feet downhill to an unknown area. Jace panicked seeing his predicament and struggled to get his other arm free from the crunch of the car door. This struggling went on for a couple minutes until he gave up on this. He couldn't see straight and all he could do is blame himself for not listening to not only his wife but also the people warming him the dangers of the forest. Ambition threw him in this problem, and now it has to get him out of it. With a sudden jerk of the door was all he needed to free his arm. "Please! Help me! I'm stuck!" He told the figure standing by the door but was silenced by growling. It was no human. He tried his best to get out of the car but his legs were also caught as well. There was no use, it was over.
Jace accepted defeat from the ghoul until another type of growling entered his ears before he blacked out for the second time. It took an hour for him to process what happened but when he came to, he was out of the car! Sitting next to the car mysteriously. "Huh?.. How did I..? Hello..? Is anyone out there?!" He asked in the mysterious wood. It didn't take long for the man to realize where he was because of one sign left by the witches of the forest. "Welcome to The Dark World Forest." The sign read.
"I.. made it.. I made it!" He celebrated but he couldn't tell his family about this because his phone was crushed by the car. The only salvaged items was his camera and his flashlights. Not a total lost right? He gathered that in his slightly torn backpack and stood up slightly until the pain rushed to his leg which caused him to sit back down in pain. "Argh!" He said out of pain. Where was this mysterious pain? The more he check himself the more he came to realize that the pain was in his right leg. He was horrible bruised because of being crushed by his car.
He faced death before once so this wasn't so much easier to face. By death, it was him asking the father of the woman he loves to give them consent to be married. He thought about his wife a lot and would do anything to be with her again. "Eliza! I will come home to you!" He screamed as he forced himself on his feet. He looked up, the sky was darkened and there wasn't a moonlight visible. He was bewildered by this curse.
"I will find you wolf." He chanted quietly to himself as he made his way through the twisted wood. He had lost the nylon string he packed but that wasn't going to stop him from finding this wolf or the remains of it. Ambition.
Walking down the confusing paths gave him such a strong reason to be scared of whatever is out there. He met his first ghoul without a chance to fight and it was not pleasant at all. The more he shined a flashlight around the more he heard the creatures growl around him. Each path he took kept getting him even more lost, but he was so determined to find this rare wolf. He wanted to prove its existence so badly at this point since something saved him.
"Where are you wolf?" He asked as he continued to walk and before him laid an unfortunate circumstance. He managed to be face to face with a cliff, but below in the trench were a lot of cars down there. Some of the visitors made their untimely ends here, at least to his eyes. After taking a couple pictures of this heartbreaking discovery, Jace went back on his way to find the wolf.
The wolf was all he thought about and the only way he'll ever go back to the town was if he brought back a wolf picture. Then all of his time, money, and dedication wouldn't be for nothing right? Right? Of course not! Maybe.. kind of. Sort of. Who knows other than the people in town.
The paths became more narrow the more he walked down them. At some point, it felt like he's been walking forever so he sat down to take a break. Has he been walking in circles? Or was there more to this forest than he's walked? It wasn't until he made a fire pit was when he had strong illusions about his wife and the town people. He felt.. scared. Almost as if the world and his mind was telling him to leave the forest and go home.
But he can't leave. And if he could, how? His car was totaled on the road here and he had no cellar device to call anyone to save him. He was.. alone. All alone in the forest everyone warned him not to go to. He grieved in silence until it was broken by growling. The ghouls.. they were coming for him. Slowly but surely they were coming and some made their presence known by getting into his view. The only source of his survival was his fire pit since the ghouls have not ever been exposed to light or fire.
Jace in his own act of survival did what any man would do in a horror movie, he grabbed a stick with fire and tried to get the ghouls away from the main fire he constructed. But as he was doing that, the main fire was put out by another ghoul. "This is the end." He told himself as he accepted defeat of his fate since he failed to think logically.
"Eliza forgive me." He said as he got on his knees ready to be ghoul prey but it wasn't until he closed his eyes when he heard screams of pain coming from the ghouls.
