Jace was stunned, heartbroken. How could she disrespect him like that? How could she deceive him and betray the vows they took when they were married. "Whose baby is it?" Jace asked in so much sadness.
"It's Gabriel's baby."
Gabriel!? Jace thought Marco was kidding but he wasn't. Gabriel the coward!? The guy who never could get enough courage to even ask a woman out and yet went out of his way to violate the sanctity of his marriage with the woman he thought loved him.
"I should have figured that out, myself." Jace said in a staggering defeat of his pride. He gave her everything and she took it for granted. "I made her sign a prenup so the house I live in is under my name. She can't take it away from me." He told Marco as he stood up and started whistling.
"Come here girl, come here." He called out as he looked at the direction Neko went running. Marco was utterly confused about why his friend was doing stupid whistling to no one. Jace continued this for half an hour until he just gave up.
"I'm glad he's dead then. I'm glad I'm divorcing her." He said out of anger, sadness, just full on heartbroken. It didn't take long for Lachlan to hear what was going on in silence but seeing his friend needing comfort, he wrapped his branches around Jace to pull him towards himself.
Marco watched this in horror thinking the tree was going to kill him so he doesn't feel the pain but he remembers the tree's capability so he stepped back. No time to be a hero for your friend when it comes to dark forest trees.
Lachlan gave him many hugs and pats on the back which seemed to calm Jace down as he looked at the tree. "Thank you Lachlan." He muttered to him. Marco was so confused about this arrangement but then didn't want to question it anymore as he was to worn out to even want to question it.
Jace saw Neko appear behind Marco and smiled. "Hey Marco. Do you think you can just.." as he was talking Neko lunged to kill the man where he stands. She knows the horrible things he's done and knows he doesn't deserve to live at all. "...die." Jace concludes as he smiled to Neko and her effort to rid the earth of evil.
"Good girl."
Jace kept to his word about helping Neko find another wolf in the forest and received supplies from Lachlan as well. The giving tree gave lots of gifts and all Jace did was protect him from a villainous fiend. It shouldn't be so bad since the forest is scared of the beautiful wolf.
Neko's ambition shined brightly in the forest as she was hopping around happily. She's never had help before and hopefully they find what they are looking for as well.
They spent hours walking, Jace talking, and playing small games while looking for other wolves in the forest. It was a huge forest than Jace was expecting and Neko continued to notice that when they go one way the end up back in the same spot.
"I believe we are lost little one." He said almost in defeat. But Neko persisted on continuing where they were going. Ambition.
Neko sometimes pushed forward to check if there was any ghouls around because this was the only nice human who is willing to help her and she wasn't going to pass that up for anything. Jace tried his best to spark conversation with her but how could an animal communicate with a human?
"Can I ask you some things, Neko?" He asked the ambitious wolf.
For at least an hour of deciding how he could communicate with her, they came to the solution that there would be Yes and No questions only. So he proceeded to create the Yes and No with bright white stones. He started asking.
"Were you born here?"
Neko rested her paw at No."Were you forced to be here?"
Neko rested her paw at Yes."Were the men who brought you here in white lab coats?"
Neko rested her paw at No.For at least an hour this went on and Jace learned so much about this small wolf, things anyone would love to have research about. That was their break so they proceeded to continue walking looking for another wolf for her.
"All is lost." Ambition.
Jace started to think that maybe Neko was scared of the forest than the forest was scared of her. She is an invasive species with no real predators except the ghouls and such. But he digressed.
"What do you think about living with me Neko?" He just blurted out without possible ways of rejection. Neko looked at her new companion and her tail wagged. The most friendliest way of all time which meant that she agreed, if he were to live. Proud to be with her new owner she barked for the first time of her life.
Jace smiled as he went over to stroke her head once more and continued on their way looking for the other wolf of the forest. But as they say it with true irony, good things don't last.
There was another clearing of the trees where there was what appeared to be a sleeping rock. But to Neko it was another wolf! Full of excitement she ran towards the other wolf happily to see if it was a male at all. Only to find that it was a trap!
Nets flew onto Neko's back and trapping her in place. She whined and howled for help but Jace wasn't so far behind with the battle axe. He started cutting the ropes away while other humans were telling him, "Wait! Hey! No! That's ours!"
Miraculously, Jace was able to free Neko and told her to "Run! Go! I got them just go!" As she ran off Jace proceeded to kill the humans one by one. Ambition they called it, such a big killer.
