Chauhan house, Bangalore

The moonlight entered the room. The couple was sleeping on two different beds in the same room. There was silence. A piercing silence. When.....

Shefali - "Noooooooo.......leave me......leave me......"

Ashutosh jumped out of his bed and switched on the lights. He ran to his wife who was once again experiencing a nightmare. He woke her up. Opening her eyes, Shefali looked at him fearfully.

Shefali - "No. Don't touch me. Please. I beg you." She joined her hands.

Ashutosh - "Shefali, I am Ashu. I won't hurt you." He tried to hold her.

Shefali (screaming) - "STAY AWAY FROM ME. DON'T TOUCH ME. STAY AWAY FROM ME....."

Ashutosh was shocked. He could not understand what to do. He wanted to comfort her, to help her. But she wanted him to stay away. Tears appeared in his eyes.

The door opened. Asha and Ayushi came running into the room while Baldev stood outside. They had heard her screaming. Ashutosh moved aside to let his mother handle Shefali.

Asha sat next to her and rubbed her back. She made her drink some water and calmed her. Shefali laid down on the bed. Asha kept patting her head and sang a lullaby.

Baldev (entering the room) - "Ashu, come with me."

Ashutosh nods and leaves the room after giving a final glance to his wife.

Balcony

Ashutosh follows his father to the balcony. They sit on the chairs, present.

Baldev - "What happened?"

Ashutosh - "I don't know, Dad. I never thought that she would push me away."

Baldev - "Ashu, she has faced a lot. You cannot expect her to accept you so easily. While she is awake, she knows that you won't hurt her but her subconscious mind does not know this. She fears everyone. Except your mother. She is able to accept Asha's touch as her mind recognises her as a mother. You need to make her forget everything."

Ashutosh - "How???"

Baldev - "Take her to a psychologist."

Ashutosh looks at his father but realises that Shefali needs it. Baldev pats on his shoulder and left him alone.

The pain in Ashutosh's heart was too much for him to bear. Seeing his love in pain was making him feel miserable. He felt lost and defeated.

LOVE. Such a strange feeling. Such a strange emotion. It makes you feel happy. It makes you feel sad. It makes you vulnerable to ecvery feeling, whether positive or negative. You want to take away the pain but at times, you become the reason for the pain. This was happening with Ashutosh. He wanted to remove every pain from Shefali's heart. But she could not accept him.

He sat in the balcony, alone. Tears flew down from his eyes. The love of his life was in pain and all he could do, was to sit and cry. Lost in his thoughts and emotions, he slept.

Next Morning

Shefali entered the balcony. She saw Ashutosh, sitting on the chair. He was asleep and there were dried tears on his face. Shefali shook him.

Ashutosh - "What? What?" He looked at Shefali and realised he slept in the balcony itself. "Good morning." He said with a smile.

Shefali - "Your smile does not suit your face, Ashu. You were crying. You should not cry."

Ashutosh cups her face.

Ashutosh - "Why? I feel sad then I will cry. The first step to being strong is accepting that you are weak. And I do accept that. I am weak, Shefali. I am weak."

Shefali - "I am sorry. I am sorry about yesterday."

Ashutosh - "Rule number six. Never apologise for something which was not your fault."

He smirked at her. Shefali giggled.

Ashutosh - "Today, we will go to a psychologist."

Shefali looks into his eyes and nods, understanding his love for her. She wanted to leave her fear behind, for her husband, the man who lived her enough to understand her.
