Point of View: Roman, First Person
Timeline: Present Day"No."
"But Lo-"
"I already gave you my answer, I'm not changing it."
"Please?"
"Roman do you honestly think that adding 'please' to your argument is going to convince me?" Logan returned, rolling his eyes before returning back to Thomas, who was starting to cry again until Logan rocked him back into silence, sucking on his star designed pacifier happily once more. He was an unusually happy child, for the most part.
"I just can't take any case right now, especially with Patton's new job at the school. Someone has to be here to take care of Thomas."
"I already offered," I reminded him.
"And although I know you mean well, you - also - are in no state to care for a child," Logan countered. "You're juggling so many different creative projects right now - I don't think you truly understand the responsibility that comes with taking care of him."
"I just watched him the other day!"
"And you ended up sleeping on the couch of someone you barely know, I don't quite understand how that is supposed to convince me."
I sighed, running a frustrated hand through my hair but before I could even continue Logan was speaking again.
"And on top of that," Logan said, shifting slightly as Thomas moved in his arms. "We barely know him. I haven't even met him. You don't even know his name."
"Then come and meet him," I pushed. "If you meet him, and - and you still don't want to, then fine. But at least give him a chance."
Logan didn't say anything for a moment, eyes dropping to now sleeping Thomas in his arms, wrapped in a red blanket covered in tiny yellow stars. The faintest of smiles crossed over Logan's face. Finally he sighed.
"I'll meet him - but no guarantees," he added quickly.
I squealed in excitement, jumping a little. "Thanks, Logan! You won't regret it, I promise!" I cheered.
"It's a maybe, m a y b e," Logan repeated, firmer this time. "I'm not saying yes."
I smiled and booped Logan on the nose, causing him to scrunch his nose up in distaste and I couldn't help smirking. "But it wasn't a no! Which was better than I was expecting!! I'll let Purple Boy know!" I said, whipping out my phone.
"You should really find out his real name," Logan said, leaving the living room and starting on his way down the hallway to Thomas's room - probably to set him in his crib.
"Yeah, yeah, uh-huh," I returned barely paying him any mind as I texted Purple Boy.
