Copper Child

Some years ago
I met a copper child
whose eyes shone bright
when the weather was mild

But as soon as it started to rain
its joints turned green
and it couldn't contain
the movement that got it
caught up in the days
Soon it had slowed its pace.
It was stuck, my dear copper child,
your metal heart was once beguiled.

Time passed and time passed
And life simply went on
till someone realized that
the old statue had been gone

It left this place, my dear copper child
shake off your oxide
cause your dreams have gone wild.

Passed the days and nights alone
in a place far away from home
But it's finally found out
It can change its whereabouts

Fetch your dreams,
my copper child,
when you ran
I saw you smiled
