It was always her

Betty's pov

   Veronica is actually really nice. Me and her have hit it off pretty well, I have a feeling we are going to be best friends. The funny thing is, is that I have never really had a girl best friend, it was always Archie and Jughead.

   "Betty?" Veronica says while waving a hand in front of my face taking me out of my daze. "Sorry" "So, is there anyone that's got your eye?" She smirks "Well, it's complicated" "So there is someone" She squeals "Well..." I said, not knowing if I should trust her or not. "I used to like Archie, but he has always pushed me away and now I am trying to get over him. He is still my best friend, but I can't like him in a romantic kind of way"

   "I'm sorry B" she said. I was surprised by the nickname she gave me "What about Jughead, i've seen the way he looks at you and I saw you scoot closer to him at lunch"

   "I don't know V, my emotions are so complicated right now" she sat up on the bed "Well you guys could make a very cute couple. What would your ship name be?" "V!" I say while sitting up on the bed too "Oops sorry" she said while chuckling

   The rest of the night we just talked and laughed, then I finally had to get home so my mom wouldn't yell at me for being out so long.

   On the way home all I could think about was Jughead. I doubted that he even liked me, but I still had that little hope inside me, what if he does.

   I got home and went straight to my room. I changed into my light pink pajama shorts and a white tank top, then took of my makeup and put my hair into a bun. Before I was going to go to bed I looked over to my window. The window that faced Archie's window, and that's when I saw him. As if i saw him for the first time. Jughead. Everything about him was beautiful.

Jugheads pov

   It was as if I saw her for the first time, and I fell for her all over again. Her hair was twirled into a bun, with no makeup on. Everything about her was beautiful. I looked into her eyes and was surprised by what I saw. I saw the twinkling light in her eyes. The light, that for so many years she only had when she looked into Archie's eyes. But now, that light is for me.

   That next morning I woke up happy. Really happy. I was thinking about her. Betty. While i was getting ready that morning in the small movie room, she was all that was on my mind.

   I got to school and headed straight for the Blue&Gold to start working. And when I walked through that door I saw her. She spun around and smiled at me. With the light in her eyes. Her golden hair pulled into a ponytail, her pink sweater and blue jeans. "Hey Cooper" "Hey" she said with a smile and pulling me into a hug. "Let's head to the student lounge" she said while pulling away. She had the same light pink lip gloss on and a light coat of mascara.

   We walk into the student lounge to see Archie and Veronica sitting next to each other, very closely. Veronica stands up when she sees us. "Hey B" she said while pulling Betty into a hug "Hey V" gosh when did they come up with these nicknames? Me and Betty sit next to each other. "So B, I have a surprise!" "hm?" Betty looks confused. "After our talk last night, I set up a date for you! Tonight 7:00 at Pops." the hell? I was so mad. What the hell did they talk about last night? I knew Betty was trying to get over Archie, but not like this.

   Betty looked shocked. "Um, I don't really want to though V" she said and looked over at me. I was surprised that she looked over at me. "Come on B, it will get your mind off things!" what the hell does she mean by 'get your mind off things'? I really hoping they are talking about Archie. I just got up and left.

   I skipped English, the period before lunch because I didn't want to see Betty. I just went to the Blue&Gold. That was a bad idea because after class was over she came in. "Where were you" she looked worried. I looked at her and looked away. I didn't say anything. "I said no, Jug..." "In case you were wondering" that's a surprise "Why?" I finally looked over to her "Because Jug, I don't want to go on a stupid date with some person that I don't have feelings for and he doesn't have feelings for me" I just nodded my head and we began working.

   "Jug?" I look over at her big blue eyes looking into mine "Yeah?" I said, not looking away. "Why were you at Archie's last night" I didn't want her to know the real reason: I need a new place to stay because the drive-in is closing so I was going to ask Archie but we never got around to the topic. "Oh we just wanted to talk" "oh" and with that we went to lunch.

   We sat outside again. It was pretty cold. Me and Betty sat across from the crew. We were taking and laughing until Betty said "Ahh I forgot my coat at home" with her arms around her body trying to keep warm. Without even thinking I took my coat off and put it on her shoulders, my acid washed jean jacket that was fuzzy inside. She looked over at me and smiled with a little twinkle in her eye. Veronica smirked at Betty, Kevin raised his brow, and Archie looked down at his food.

   I was in the last class of the day, science. I got a text message from Betty.

   After the bell rang I was the first one out of class. I hurried and got my stuff from my locker and went over to her locker. I stopped behind her, she was still wearing my jacket and she looked good in it.

   "Ready?"I said. She turned around and smiled"Lets go" she said with a pep in her step. The whole walk to her house was fun, we just talked and laughed a couple times. We would look at each other a couple times and I saw the light in her eye. It made me feel good inside, warm and safe. We finally got to her big white house. "Well I guess this is goodbye for now Cooper" She smiled, took off the coat and put it on me, just like I had done to her. She smiled up at me and kissed me on the cheek. "Bye Juggie" I had a big smile on my face. I waited until she shut the red door behind her then i walked home. I felt my cheek where she kissed me, it was still vibrating from her soft lips. My coat smelled like her strong coconut sent.

On my way home all I could think about was how soft her lips felt on my cheek.
