betty's pov

I was unaware of how close Jughead and I were sitting until we saw Archie, and I could feel his body tense up.

Veronica came and sat down across from us.

"What, what's wrong?" she said, noticing Jughead's death stare at Archie.

Archie walked over to our table and stood in front of Jughead and I. "Can we talk out side, Jughead?"

I got up out of the booth and stood in front of him. "I don't know what you are doing here, but if you just came to mock me and Jughead-"

Then Jughead cut me off and put his hand on my shoulder and said "It's ok Betty I'll talk to him outside, I'll be right back."

We made eye contact then I moved out of his way so he could go. I sat back down and looked up at Veronica, and her eyes were wide in either confusion or awe.

"What?" I said staring right back at her.

"Um, you and Jughead?"

"No, were just friends and I don't want him to get hurt."

She looked at me for awhile.

"Ok, whatever you say. But do you have any feelings?"

I could feel myself blush and I smiled a little bit.

"I honestly don't know, but I highly doubt he even likes me back."

Veronica laughed.

"Betty! Have you seen the way he looks at you?"

I smiled and looked down. I heard Pop's bell ring and my head shot up to see who it was,
Jughead and Archie.

We made eye contact and he gave me a small smile to assure me that everything was ok.

Jughead came and sat next to me then Archie sat next to Veronica.

"So, everything better between you two?" Veronica asked. Then Archie replied "Yeah, we're good."

After that Pop came over and got our orders of milkshakes and burgers.

"So Betty, that guy you were with this morning" Archie said. Oh shit, why did he have to bring this up now? "Now that I think about it, he looked a lot like Jughead." 

I felt my cheeks blush, I glanced over at Jughead to see that he blushed a little to but then got a little mad. But I was mad too, why would he bring that up with Veronica sitting right there?

"Um..." I spoke up, realizing we should just tell him the truth. "So this morning you and Jughead weren't on speaking terms, and we needed to leave my house but you were outside so I came up with a plan. But we aren't together."

I looked over at Jughead to make sure he agreed with what I said and he nodded his head.

"Well how did he get over to your house in the first place? And did he stay the night at your house?" Archie just kept pounding us with questions. Neither I nor Jughead knew how to answer that, luckily Pop came over and gave us our milkshakes and burgers.

When we were eating it was quiet. I was almost done with my burger when my phone rang with a text message from Veronica.

Is that true?

Me: Meet me here tomorrow for lunch?

V💜
Sure.

I was pretty full so I looked over at Jughead to see that he was done too.

"It's pretty late, I'm going to head home." I said putting some money on the table. After following my actions Jughead said, "Yeah, I'll walk you home."

Archie didn't even look at us, But Veronica said bye and told me to text her when I get home.

Jughead and I got back to my house, we changed and sat on my bed.

We sat facing each other. "God I can't believe Archie" Jughead said while taking off his beanie. "and right after he apologized to me, he made everything ten times worse" he went on.

"I'm so sorry, it was all my fault. I wanted to go to the mall, and then I came up with that stupid plan which made everything worse" I said without being able to look him in the eyes.

"Hey, hey" he said while lightly taking my chin with his hand and tilting my head up so our eyes would meet.

His eyes were beautiful, sometimes they were blue, sometimes green, sometimes in the middle. Right now they were more blue, they looked like a deep calm ocean that I could just stare into all day.

My daze was broken by his soft deep voice. "None of this was your fault, Betty. Because of you we are friends again and you saved me from my depression. But hey, it's ok if your not perfect you don't have to be perfect. You can make mistakes, just be yourself and that's good enough for me"

"Thank you" I softly said. I glanced down at his lips and realized how soft they looked. I was too caught up in the moment to even realize how close we actually were.

jugheads pov

I saw that Betty's eyes were wandering to my lips, then I knew that this was the right moment.

I started to lean in and realized she was leaning too, so I softly cupped her face with my hand pulled her in more and then, our lips collided. 

At first she didn't kiss back, but when she did our lips started to move in a fluid motion. Her lips were soft and sweet, almost like a strawberry.

RING! RING! RING!

We both jumped up to the sound of Betty's phone ring. She grabbed her phone to see who it was, and she sighed "It's V" I sat back down to wait for her to answer. When Betty answered I could hear Veronica in the background, not knowing what she was saying but the tone of her voice.

At first it was cheerful then kind of angry, then Betty interrupted her saying "That's why I want to meet you for lunch tomorrow. Anyways I gotta go, see you then?" then Betty and Veronica said their goodbyes then she hung up.

Betty turned around and looked at me for a little bit, I had no idea what was going on in her head but all that I could think abut was what just happened. She grabbed her Romeo and Juliet book that was lying on her desk and put it on her book shelf, she must be reading that again, I thought.

"I'm starting to get tired" she said while taking out her bun then she turned off the lights. I was starting to think that she didn't like the kiss until she came and laid by me and said "to be continued" then gave me a small, soft kiss then cuddled up into my arms.

"Good night Juliet" I said while kissing her on the forehead. "Good night Romeo" and not long after that I dozed off to sleep with Betty Cooper in my arms.
