Nothing Left

Chapter 18: Jump

My feet moved at an impossible speed as I ran for my life. They caught up quick but there was still a far distance between me and them. I finally reached the motel, rushing inside and shutting the doors. Jonny, Lillian and Cody where in there, rushing questions I didn't hear.

"Block the doors! Get your stuff we need to leave now!" I screamed and started to block the glass doors with everything I could find.

Jonny helped me to and soon there was a huge barricade in front of the door. I set the last part down against the window and a loud thump shook the barricade. Multiple ones came after and the glass started to crack.

"What the fuck is that!?" Jonny panicked and backed up.

"Walkers. Walkers. They're fucking walkers. Like...like...mutated, higher skilled, new and improved walkers. Get your shit!" I ran upstairs and into the room I had been staying in.

I grabbed my bag, loaded my guns and heard a loud shader that sounded through the house. I looked up and saw the walker...or person's head through the broken window of the room. She broke the fucking window with her head!

I screamed and turned to run, bumping into a body that dragged me out of the room. Everything was going I fast so I kept screaming, looking up to see it was only Gabriel. I stepped back and watched as he shut the door, Jonny and Cody coming with dressers and chairs to barricade the door.

The door cracked, cracked again, and then a head smashed through the door, looking up at us and growling. Blood and slobber poured from it's mouth, teeth sharp and bloody, face completely human looking with the exception of a bleeding gash in it's forehead from breaking through things.

"Vivian now!" Jonny screamed at me to get my attention, someone's large hand gripping my arm and dragging me away from the room.

I followed, stumbled down the stairs, then ran through the lobby and down the hall with them. We reached the back door, the boys breaking the lock and leading us out. Quietly as we could, we all walked out, looking down the very long alley ways.

"This way..." Jonny whispered and carefully walked along the brick wall, us following in a line.

Around the corner came the zombies, stumbling over each other and snapping their teeth to get to us. We all turned and made our way down the other way until the other half of zombies came around.

"Fucking hell!" Jonny yelled and gunshots were fired. We shot a few of them, head shots worked, along with the stomach and heart maybe.

They were human. Half way at least. We could still kill them by the heart, maybe ribcage and torso area. They were human.

"Not all the ammo!" Yelled Jonny. "Ladder! Up the ladder!" Cody called and lead Lillian up first.

After Lillian I was rushed up the ladder even though I wanted to stay down to protect my people. I knew better than to look down. I just kept climbing up the ladder at Lillian's heels until we got up. She helped me on to the roof, Cody coming up after us. I looked over to see the zombies closing in just as Jonny started to head up. He shot a few off but climbed fast.

It took awhile for the zombies to catch on to the idea and some started to climb, but they climbed slowly. Then started to pile on each other, making each other fall off.

Jonny had finally got up, me and Cody helping him up and I hugged him. He could of died of course I'm hugging him. He gave me a quick hug back and we both pulled away to search for a way out.

"The buildings are close enough. We can jump across!" Gabriel yelled, standing at the edge of the building.

"You sure?" I ran to him and looked over, herd of the original walkers trailing below but it was close. "Okay. One at a time!"
