August's POV

I walked in my homie Chris house and he was sitting there with money all in his hand like it's normal for a 18 year old to have $200,000 just sitting around the house. But that's Breezy, always standing out no matter what's going on.

"What up Breezy." I said shaking his hand.

"What up bruh, how ya moms doing." he asked handing me $50.

"She doing good, just kinda heavy on the medicine."

"Aw okay, take care." he said as I handed him his weed and stood up.

"Aight man." I said just about to walk off but some girl caught my eye that was standing in the doorway.

"Damn Chris you got a new girl and you ain't gon introduce us? I thought we was cool." I said faking being mad.

He chuckled, "Nah this ain't my girl, this Zaliyah. Christine friend."

Christine is Chris lil sister. She got a bad ass attitude and she way too grown to be 14, belly button piercing and weave down to her ass crack. I ain't having that type of shit with my daughter.

"Ze this my homie August, you might be seeing him around a lot." he said. This real pretty light skin girl with a big ass booty and pretty ass smile stared at me.

I looked her up and down and licked my lips. "Damn, what's yo name."

She smiled at me and flipped her long black curly hair. "Zaliyah. What's yours."

"I'm August, I just came through to see Chris but now that I laid my eyes on you I guess I got a lil more time." I said sitting on the couch beside her.

"I guess Ima leave y'all two alone then." Chris said walking away shaking his head.

"Fuck you, Chris!"

"Ima leave that to Zaliyah." he said going into his bedroom.

She rolled her eyes. "Why you come over here to see Chris, don't y'all go to school together."

"I just had to... make an exchange real quick." I said quickly. I ain't wanna tell her that I was selling drugs cuz that run some girls away, and she seemed like a good girl so I had to keep my bullshit low-key.

"You selling?" she asked after a while. I sighed. Shit.

"Nah why you ask."

"I ain't stupid August, I know how shit go around here." Zaliyah said giving me the suspicious eye.

I sighed again. "So now you don't wanna fuck with me no more."

"I don't like that you selling but I wanna know why." she said looking up at me. The thing about her was, she still a lil girl. She only 17, still looking up to these lil Instagram thotties. I know she can't help it, girls be having it hard, trying to live up to the dumbass expectations society throw at them. It's a shame.

"I gotta handle business for my family. I can't let my lil sister and moms starve cuz my pops and step dad can't stay off crack." I said staring out the window. She nodded and looked down, then back up at me. I can tell she felt sorry for me which is exactly what I wanted to avoid.

"You ain't gotta feel bad for me shawty, I'm just fine."

"I know but that type of thing always make me feel bad, I know how it feel cuz my daddy left us for a white women who used him for his money. But then after he heard my Mama divorced her second husband, he came back into our lives." she said looking at me.

"Damn that's fucked up, I wish my pops would. I'll beat his ass." I said making her laugh.

We both looked up as the front door opened and Christine walked in. Fuck, this ain't gon be good.

"Auggie!" she yelled running up to me and jumping in my lap.

"What's up Christine."

"What you doing up in here with Zaliyah, that's my best friend! August yo brown skin ass better not be cheating on me!" she yelled loud as hell, Zaliyah rolled her eyes and got up and left.

"The fuck you mean, you ain't my girl."

"Yes I am." she stuck out her tongue.

"You better stop that fore I make you show me what that tongue do." I said real slick. She blushed hard and I laughed, but felt a hard ass shove from behind me.

"Yo what the fuck Breezy." I said dusting myself off.

"Stay the fuck off Christine." he said seriously.

"It ain't like I want her, she the one claiming me. You need to watch her fast ass."

"Shut the hell up." he said with a chuckle.

I shook his hand and walked down the hall to her room. I knocked and Zaliyah stuck her head out.

"Yes."

"I wanted to ask. You wanna go out to lunch or dinner, whatever works for you this Saturday. If you don't want to it's cool, I just wanna get to know yo cute lil self better." I said.

She smiled and looked down. "That sound good, how bout I text you later."

I handed her my phone and she saved her number and I put my number in hers.

"See you when I do." I said walking away.
