4/9- Evening/ Rei's POV
As Rei lays down on her bed, the brunette has a hard time falling asleep due to the worries of someone that she cared, due to her sleeping condition as a result of long-term stress and not used to sleeping in long hours, since childhood. Maybe with the possible occurrence of jet lag, since she recently arrived in Japan after all but probably not.
As the bandages around her arms are getting old, Rei grabbed a roll of gauze that she got from her aunt, that she starts wrapping it to cover the scars that inflicted from her childhood.
'Thank god Akira didn't see it... And I preferred it to keep it that way." Rei lets out a sigh of relief as she gazes at the jagged and crooked scars in disgust.
'I wonder how my mom is doing? I hope she's doing fine over there... Soon enough, she'll be able to transfer here someday. I'm so worried about her, will she be okay? She's the only parent I have; I don't want to lose her... '
Feeling the need to want to talk to someone, Rei was about to grab her phone from the outlet near her bed but changed her mind in realization.
"No, he's probably sleeping around this time," Rei said to herself as she wants to talk to Akira at the same time, afraid of annoying or angering him from disturbing his sleep.
Hearing a soft knock on the door, her aunt calls out to her.
"Rei? May I come in? I have some Chamomile Tea for you." Mari informed to Rei in her usual stern but a soft tone of her voice.
"Sure." She replied.
Her aunt comes in with a tea set and a bottle of Insomnia medication.
"Thanks, Aunt Mari. You still remember my condition." She lets out a soft smile in appreciation.
"But it can be jet lag since you just got here." She joked around the situation to lighten up the mood.
"Yeah... let's wait and see," Rei said while slowly sipping her tea.
"Honestly, if only Kaede and Arnold are here..."
"Mother... Father..." The brunette peered down in sadness as their fates that led to their unfortunate demise.
"It took me a long time to do the paperwork of guardianship away from Kaede as she is institutionalized after that incident, along with Arnold's early death as a veteran soldier for the States. Talk about bad luck between our situations, huh?" She said while keeping in a cheery mood to talk about her situation.
However, Rei only looked at her as if she is about to cry but held in tears.
"I understand the pain you have to go through... losing your father, having to deal with your mother who is mentally ill who is placed in a ward, and having to take care of yourself. I wished I can do something about that earlier..."
"Mhm." She only nodded and looked down at her blanket.
"I'm here for you, sweetheart. You've done well, getting into a scholarship program in Shujin. Just work hard, but remember to relax when it's necessary. ...If you need anything, I'm always willing to listen." Mari gave a reassuring hug to the now trembling girl.
