The rest of the journey was silent. There were unsaid things between us that created tension. I saw how hurt and disappointed my brother was when I lied. We normally didn't keep secrets between us. We were very close like that. He was the only person that I could tell all of my secrets but telling him I was going insane was out of the question.

When we reached home it was quiet. We went to the kitchen and dropped our stuff but our parents were nowhere to be seen. So we made our way to the living room in silence.

When we got to the living room my parents were seated on the caramel sofa looking at the window in silence. Their faces were grim and worried.

I was nervous.

Whenever they told us to come home early was to tell us bad news or to scold us for whatever we have done wrong. But at that moment I knew that whatever they wanted to tell us it was going to change our lives.

Forever.

"Sit down," My father said without meeting our eyes.

We did as we were told and waited. But they still didn't say anything. The stared into space for a few minutes before continuing "We have a story to tell you" My mother said but my father continued "Please don't interrupt".

"There was...There was a..." He paused it was like he did not know where to start "When I was young I meet this girl. Pretty and full of like. I think it was love at first sight. At first, I did not know how to approach her but one day she approached me." he smiled "We were inseparable from that day onward. We went together finished university together married together and planned to have children together it was all perfect" he paused his face darkening "Until that day..." his eyes had a faraway-in-the-distance look. "We planned in me meeting her at her work but work kept me up. She had to come home by herself" he took a deep breath "She was attacked by a thief and stabbed in her lower abdomen. She was left there without any important possessions and bleeding to death. When someone finally found her she was rushed to the hospital..." he took another deep breath and continues the story "I rushed to the hospital when I heard what happened to your mother. When the doctor came back he said that the place in which the thief stabbed her was too low, he said that because of that she was not able to have more children" his voice cracked "I was saddened by her inability to have children but I was happy. Happy that she was alive. But day after day I blamed myself...I sill blame myself. We were able to manage, we wanted to adopt but the price was too high." My mother continued "The only thing we could do was pray to God for a miracle but one fateful rainy night our doorbell rang. We went to the door and heard a baby cry." my mother said finally looking at my eyes "When we opened the door to see they were two beautiful baby twins with beautiful purple eyes that shined bright in the moonlight and wavy black hair with purple tips"

I was shocked not only have a discovered that my mom was stabbed and unable to have children but that my parents were not my parent. I felt betrayed and stupid. I should have known before; we were too different to be related.

I wanted to ask them why the didn't tell us before but I was interrupted by my mother. "With you, two came a paper it had your names and date of birth. That the only thing that we knew about you. Well also that the blanket that you two were wrapped in was bloody. We thought that your mother probably had problems with the birth or you two. We thought about bringing you to the authorities but we decided to wait to see if your parent would come back but after a few months they still haven't come and we were too attached with you, that we couldn't bring my ourselves to give you up...So we decided to be your parents." She stopped and let my father continue "It was all going fine until a letter came a few months before your sixteenth birthday, it said that when you reached sixteen you had to go to prestigious boarding school it carried your photos and your names but we ignored it, thinking that it was all a joke. However, one week after your birthday the letter came again we ignored it again still thinking it was a bad joke but yesterday the letter came again but much more aggressive" my father went to the drawer, opened it with a key and binged out a yellow net letter. He opened it at gave it to us to read:

Dear Mr and Mrs Campbell.

We've seen several letters before but they did not reach to you.

We're writing about the vacant space for your Kaitlyn and Kaiden. We know they're not your real children, so you hold no ties with them whatsoever.

We are not asking for much we only want whats best for the children education.

We will provide any needed supplies including clothes and a place to stay.

If we don't see the children by the end of this week we will not hesitate to call the authorities.

We assure you that the children safety will be well maintained.

However, visits without an appointment will be declined.

Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,

The Headmaster

I read and re-read the letter several times making sure I understood correctly.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," tears were in my mother eyes "but I don't regret it. I happy that I found you two. I don't regret it; I will never regret it. I now know what being a real mother is even if you won't ever forgive me" Tears were falling from my mom's eyes.

I forced myself to calm down and hugged my parent in a quiet voice I said "Even if we are not related by blood, you are our parents. You are the ones that changed our deeper, threated our injuries, give us food even if you lied to us you give us more than our biological parent ever could. A home"

My mother hugged me tightly while she was crying. After she stopped I said "I...I will go and pack my bags"

I went up the stairs and entered my room and closed the door behind me. I seated down on the bed and felt my body tremble.

My mind was in a tornado of thought. It was too much at the same time not only discovering that I was adopted but that my biological parent might be dead and that I know needed to go to a school that I didn't even know of.

A tear escaped my eyes. I was trying to keep them in but it felt like they wanted to burst.

Suddenly I felt a pair of hands pushing me to a chest. I looked up and saw my brother. I saw the conflict and trouble in his eyes. I almost forgot that I had a brother and that he was probably feeling the same thing I was. Seeing the pain in his eyes made me cry harder.

He pulled me into a thigh hug and whisper "Whatever happens we will in it together"

Together. I was not alone.
