I finished typing out what had just happened and leaned back into my chair. What could have possibly happened? For real, what was so big that he ditched on me? I don't mean to be petty, but I'm kinda mad at him. Like, don't promise o take me out to see all this amazing stuff and then ditch, you know? I walked out to the living room and sat by myself. I think the girls are in their room.I turned on the TV and went to Disney, watching whatever came on. I was midway through this show about youtubers when I got a call from Josh. Before I could even say hello he said, "Listen Iris this is important." There was a long pause where I didn't say anything so he continued. "My fiancé literally just went into labor, so I need you to run into work and cover for me."
I didn't skip a beat in telling him I would, already getting up to get dressed before I ended the call. I ran into my room and threw on some clothes faster than Lightning (McQueen). Alicia showed up outside my door and asked if she could play Fortnite on the TV. "Yea dude, do whatever, I have to run into work," I then explained what was happening, and she let me run out.
I got there as fast as I could and started working like a normal day, checking what hours josh actually had. This other girl was working too, her name is like Margot or something, but she was already at the Register so I took the *amazing* position of making the drinks in the back. It was only a couple hours before we closed up for the night, so not much happened.
Margot and I cleaned up and I let her go early while I finished. She told me to be safe as she headed out, and I just nodded. After everything was cleared I turned off the lights and started walking out to go home. Until suddenly I-
"HAND IT OVER," I heard a guy yell. I froze where I stood and tried to be as silent as possible. "LADY!" The guy yelled, "HAND YOUR WALLET OVER NOW!!" I started freaking out before I heard another voice yelling, "leave her alone before I call the cops!" I spun around quickly and it was just the guy I thought; Scott.
The guy seemed to not want much trouble so he ran off. Scott walked up to me and checked my face. "He didn't hit you or anything, right? People around here have some serious damage," he started mumbling on and on about the crime statistics before I waved him off, "It's fine, I'm not hurt. I should probably get home though."
"How about you just come to my place?"
"Sure"
And we headed off.
