Two weeks later Christmas was nearing quicker than I thought it was going to. I'd already done all my shopping, so today I'm helping the girls hang up the tree. Well I mean.. later. It's still early in the day, so I figured I'd try to do some self care and work on my book.  I refuse to let myself be happy until I have SOMETHING for it.

I checked through everything I've written so far and.. wow. It's just a ton of different times of me hanging out with Scott. Me and him play games at his house pretty much every night now. Thank goodness  for it- I've finally stopped working so much now that I have his attention. I hadn't realized how much of a toll it took on me until I finally had a week of 8+ hours of sleep a night. Now I'm basically back to normal health.

But we're just friends, I swear. Like I know we started this being all "I'm going to fall in love and it will be amazing," but I've kinda came to terms with the possibility that might not happen. I mean Scott's an amazing person, and I'm fine with just being friends if it's what it needs to be.

Still, here I sit with excerpts of our hangouts that will be used to write a romance novel. There's a certain level of irony here that I didn't think anyone could ever reach. Scrolling through all the stories of him and I in my laptop made me happy though. I mean honestly, if we do start dating, the Cars movies will have some competition for best romance.

There was the story about how we met- literally the cutest thing ever-, how he "saved" me, the fair, and all of it. I couldn't even get a start on anything before I heard a knock at my door. "Come in," I yelled at it. Alicia walked in and sat on my bed. "Okay listen, Iris," she said. "I got Steph a present, and the landlord says it's fine so don't worry, but like.. I need you to keep it in here until Monday. Well I mean.. things for it. Because the actual thing won't come until really early on Monday because it would just be cruel to make you take care of it."

I was ever so slightly terrified about this. If it's a snake I'm going to actually die. She brought in a box and put in in the corner of my room, covering it with a blanket. I mean, not like I would want to know what's in there first. She saw me glaring and decided to explain, saying "Oh don't worry. We're getting a dog." That's fine. I reall-

Wait

"OH MY GOSH WE'RE GETTING A DOG?" I yelled. She shushed me with her hands and nodded. "Yea, just don't tell Steph. I'm gonna go wrap presents, you should wrap yours too." And then she left my room. At this point I was too excited to write, so I did as she said and started wrapping. My mind raced as I thought about what the new addition would be like- would he be all cute and cuddly like a black lab, or kinda fierce but still mostly cuddly like a pit bull? I really should have asked for more details.

After I'd wrapped nearly everything there was another knock at my door, so I quickly shoved all the unwrapped gifts under my bed before telling them to come in. Scott walked through and sat at my desk, smiling. "So are you ready to decorate this tree?" He asked. I smiled and shook my head at him saying, "I still think it's funny you want to have your Christmas here. I mean, the more the merrier, but don't you want to go to your parents or something?" Oh yea, forgot to mention- Scott's helping decorate the tree because he insisted that him, the girls, and I had a sleepover. It's kinda stupid but I love it.

"My family's back in Scotland, so usually I spend the holidays alone," he said. I nodded, and we conversed back and forth until Steph came in. All three of us walked out to the living room to see that Alicia had already put together the tree, so all we had to do was decorate it. I'll spare the details, considering most of it was very heated political discussions. We all shared the same beliefs to a degree, so it was mostly roasting a certain Cheeto president.

Scott left after we had all been chilling for a while, saying he needed to go record something so he wouldn't fall behind. We waved him off and went back to watching tv. The only difference is that I now have the girls yelling at me about how I need to date Scott before someone else does. I laughed it off before I eventually went to my room to write it all down and finish wrapping.
