The sun peaked through the pulled back olive curtains, causing me to roll over only to find an empty spot that Jack no longer slept. I sat up in bed and rubbed my eyes before checking the time on my phone. It was 2:00 in the afternoon ! I had slept through most of the day! I slid on a pair of shorts before going into the kitchen. Everyone was dispersed between the kitchen, dining room, and living room due to the open floor plan.
"Hello, sleepyhead." Jack said looking at me from the dining table.
"How come you didn't wake me up?" I asked while stretching and yawning.
"You looked like you were having the best sleep of your life, you were slobbing, you took all the blanket from me and—."
"Okay!" I stopped him out of embarrassment.
He laughed along with his mom and dad who were sitting in the living room.
"Well I'm glad to here that bedroom is comfortable enough for you three."
"Have you bought anything for the baby yet?" His mother asked.
"Not yet." I replied. "We were kind of hoping to wait until we found out the sex."
"Oh nonsense. We should go out shopping for some unisex things today, while these men do their thing."
"When is the concert?" I asked glancing over at Jack.
"It's tomorrow. Jada should be here later on tonight. I think you should spend some quality time with your soon to be mother-in-law." Jack suggested.
I took a piece of bacon from the plate of food in front of Jack.
"You hungry?" Jack asked before sliding the plate of food over to me.
I ate before deciding if I was gonna go with his mother or not.
"I guess it's okay, if we pick out a few little things. Let me just get ready and then we can go."
I hurried upstairs and settled on a pastel pink dress that helped my small baby bump show.
I took my hair out of the bonnet and let it hang free before heading back downstairs.
"All set?" His mother asked while standing from the sofa.
"Yeah." I said smiling.
"Have fun." Jack said before standing and placing a kiss to my cheek.
His mother drove her silver Range Rover, while the stereo played soft music.
"So why are you plotting against my son?" She asked while turning down a busy highway.
"What do you mean?"
"You know exactly what I mean. You college girls, sleep with men twice your age, get knocked up and expect them to take care of you."
"I'm sorry but I think you've got the wrong impression and you sure have the wrong person to be speaking to any kind of way."
"No sweetheart I don't. You've got one time to hurt my son and I'll be all over your ass."

Shopping with Jack's mother was not as pleasant as I would have liked it to be, but we did find some nice things for the baby.
