"So what do you think of all of this?" Sam asked planting another explosive.
"What do I think of what?" Durham asked.
"Miss Graystone, or whatever she calls herself. Is she really who she says she is?"
"I never knew her before so I wouldn't know."
"Me neither. I just find it hard to believe that dead people can come back to life."
"We've got kitchen appliances holding guns to our heads. Don't tell me immortality is where you draw the line."
"Look, robots being people is one thing but robots being dead people, that just seems wrong to me."
"All I know is that she's saved my life on many occasions. Other than that, she can call herself whatever she likes," Durham said. There was a sound outside the room. Sam and Durham turned to the door to see a squad of Cylon troops approaching the entrance to the room.
"Pick up a gun Director," Sam said, "we're going to have to shoot our way out." Sam made a head shot to the first Cylon entering the room but it had no effect.
"You obviously don't know much about Graystone tech," Durham said.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Brain's in the chest, not the head," Durham said. To prove his point, Durham made a perfect shot to the collar of the Cylon where the MCP was held. The Cylon fell to the ground dead. More Cylons entered the room.
“Frak!” Sam said, “how are we going to get out of this?”
Zoe reached a room at the end of the hallway. Beyond the door, she found an exact replica of her father's board room, only, everything was chrome. From the ceiling to the floor and everything in between was chrome. There were chrome apples in a chrome bowl on the chrome table. Even the windows that took up most of the room were mirrored apart from the ones at the end of the room.
In the room, Zoe saw, were a group of Cylon Centurions sitting around the meeting table. Zoe saw Lucifer sitting a few seats down the table incessantly spinning his chair. She saw that the window was projecting a view of the real world. The image showed the blimp that floated over the skies of Caprica being ambushed and destroyed by a fleet of Cylon Raiders.
"I always hated that thing," Tamara said. The screen turned off. As Zoe entered the room, the eyes of the Cylons centered on her. Even Lucifer stopped spinning and gave Zoe a silly wave.
Zoe could see outside and realized that the room they were in wasn't the only part of this V-world. All of Caprica City had been recreated in the minutest detail and all of it had been chrome plated. Tamara must have based much of the code of New Cap City.
The sky box outside the window flickered between day and night. The reflection calculations were too much for the V-world server and it was causing the program to glitch.
"Rendering problems?" Zoe asked. Tamara turned around in her chair.
"Have a seat Miss Graystone," Tamara said, "we have much to discuss. Apple?" Tamara pushed the bowl of apples towards Zoe. As Zoe looked at the Chrome apples, she saw the face of the endoskeleton of her real world body reflected back at her.
"No thank you." Zoe took a seat and pushed the apples back across the table. Tamara caught the bowl and took an apple from it. Her teeth sank into the chrome plated skin. Although chrome, the apple was still clearly edible.
"I like what you’ve done to the place. But I was wondering, why chrome?" Zoe asked looking around the room, “why is chrome such a central part of your Cylon culture?”
