Chapter 8: Stepping Up

"Huh? Wait, Asher! Where are you going!?" Yelled Jake across the narrow hallway. When he could see no more of her, Jake quickly got up off the floor, and sprinted away to find out where Asher was going. Jake suddenly noticed that Asher was all alone and she was talking to herself. "I should have never used my powers like that! Ahh! I'm so stupid! I almost exposed my true self, I have to be more careful next time.".
"What? What she on about!? Exposing her true self?", "Is she some sort of superhuman? Or something?" Jake whispered to himself. Just then Asher turned around and saw Jake. She had secretly heard him say that with her super sense of hearing.
"What are you doing here! You didn't hear anything that I said, did you?" Asked Asher in a fright.
"No, no! What things? I didn't hear a word!" Jake lied.
Suddenly the class bell rang. "Good! Now come on! We're going to be late for class!" Said Asher as she ran down the hallway.
