-[-Angel POV-]-
I tried to tug the hoodie from my mother's grip again, but she kept her grip and just pulled back, almost making it slip from my now white-knuckled hands. Let my hoodie go!
"Let go of this purple rag, you brat!" Mother hissed, pulling at the hoodie once again. "You aren't a boy, so don't wear it!" I froze as she said this, rage taking over. She ripped the hoodie from my hands. I growled quietly, but put on my nicest smile and tried to pretend I wasn't extremely pissed off.
"Mother, may I have my hoodie back?" I asked, letting a hint of anger slip into my tone. She dropped it out of my open window and gave me a twisted smile. I ignored the urge to follow my hoodie out the window and just blinked at my mother. She handed me a yellow t-shirt and some jean shorts.
"Get dressed. Your summer camp requires yellow shirts." I groaned in disgust as soon as she walked out and slammed the door behind her.
"Ugh... yellow." I grabbed my travel bag from my closet and put the oversized galaxy hoodie that I got from dad two years ago at the bottom so I could hide it with everything else. I put some food from my secret stash into the pockets of the hoodie and started to pack everything else. Y'know, female stuff. Pads, bras... any other yellow t-shirts I could find in my closet. One of them actually looked cute, so I decided that I'd change into that when I got to camp. When I was sure that I had everything from my closet, I decided to stuff a plastic bag with my sewing needles and a few different spools of thread in there too.
"Angel! Hurry the fuck up! The bus is going to be here soon!" Mother screamed, making me flinch. I put a few of my scrunchies, earrings and chokers in my bag and mentally checked to make sure I had everything before zipping up my bag. I slipped on some no-show socks and my black converse. I nearly left my room before realizing that I forgot something.
"Oh, wait." I mumbled, jumping up and running to my bed. I grabbed a few mechanical pencils, the many replacement led stick thingies I had, and the sketchbook my art teacher gave me before the school year ended. I also grabbed my brush, cause I wasn't going to spend the summer with a rat's nest for hair. I put them all into my bag and spent a good three minutes trying to zip it again.
"Angel!" Mother screamed again.
"Coming, mother!" I called back, dragging my bag behind me as I left my room and nearly tripped down the stairs. The bus showed up as soon as I made it down the stairs, and I bolted out the open front door before mother could even say something to me. My travel bag hit the back of my leg and I nearly fell, but I refused to let myself crumble. Not when I was so close to leaving this hellhole. I made it to the bus, not looking back to my house until I got to the back of the bus and sat down. Mother stared at me and I just flipped her off. I didn't care what the consequences would be when I got home later in the summer. I was just so glad that I was out of there.
"Finally... out of that hellhole." I sighed, closing my eyes for a moment. I must have been the only one being picked up, because no one else was on the bus. The pain from my bag hitting my leg finally kicked in and I winced. Suddenly I was jerked forward, and I glanced up at the bus driver. He had a hook for a hand. How the hell was he even driving? This is going to be a long ride...---
"New camper's here." The driver grumbled as the door opened. I stood up, making my way to the front of the bus so I could be seen by who I assumed would be the camp counselors. There was a very tall red-haired man standing next to a boy who seemed to be the same age as me.
"I'm David, the camp counselor! Welcome to Camp Campbell!" David smiled, coming up to me and helping me get my bag out when he saw that I was having trouble. I smiled nervously when I finally stepped off the bus.
