Human Transmutation
Ed's POV
[Resembool, Amestris, you and Ed are 11]
Even if we just got back.
Even if we haven't told anyone that we're finally home.
Even if what we're about to do, is insane.
We have to do it. We are experienced. We know more. I know we can do it. I know we can bring mom back, and I know we will see her smile soon enough.
I just have to ignore that nagging feeling in the back of my mind. That one tiny instinct, telling me to stop and think about this. But I know, I have thought about this enough times. I have.
I have pretty strong faith that this will work. Like... 99.999999 percent sure.
"Brother." Alphonse looks at me, brown eyes huge and fearful. I sigh; he isn't as sure as I am about this.
"Don't worry," I repeat, for what feels like the hundredth time. "I have everything drawn to perfection. Don't you trust your big brother?"
"W-well, yeah..." Alphonse stammers, wringing his hands nervously. "We have all the breakdown for the body...b-but what about the soul?"
"Just hold out your hand!" I demand impatiently, more so to stop him from giving me second thoughts than anything. Alphonse does so gingerly, and I jerk the knife in my hand across his finger, quickly doing the same to mine.
"Her blood from our blood," I say, mostly to myself as I hold my finger about the ingredients, Al doing the same. "That's an equivalent exchange, right?"
We watch as the red soaks into the physical make-up, then kneel before my 9-point array. I sigh as I quickly glance at my little brother, who seemed even more nervous than before.
"C'mon, we'll do it together," I smile. He returns the gesture weakly, then we go back to our alchemy.
Closing our eyes, we set our hands on the cool ground. For whatever reason, [y/n]'s words echoed in my head.
No! You can't! Please!
Guilt twinges in my stomach as I remember the tears streaming down her delicate face. I never did like it when she cried...
Too late now. The alchemical lights were already beaming around us, warmth engulfing the room comfortably.
See? I think to myself. It seems like it's working just fine.
Ironically, just as I think that, and become more sure of myself, the room turns cold and forboding. The lights become purple, and it flashed before my eyes.
Fear launches into my throat, and it was only made worse when I heard Alphonse's screams.
"Brother!" His voice tore through the room, and I whip around to find him being pulled into a large portal. Little blacks hands were clutching onto his small body, and tears streamed down his face.
"Al!" I yelp, too scared to move. Little pieces, that sorta of looked like transmutation marks, were beginning to dislodge themselves from his face and hands. I reach out to him, but it was too late.
His hand was gone in mine.
Suddenly, a prickling sensation went up my left leg. I gasp and look down, then feel my brain cloud with horror as I see it beginning to be broken down by the forces of alchemy.
All too fast, a bright light flashed and I soon found myself standing before a giant door. I felt even smaller- ow, that hurt to say- in contrast.
"Well, hello."
