Valentine's Day

Your POV

[Central, Amestris, you and Ed are the magical age of 13! (don't we love the teenaged years?)]

You smirk to yourself as you confidently stride through the busy streets of Central, actually feeling somewhat good about a decision you have made for once. Decorations hung around, showing red and pink streamers. People chatted happily around you, and laughs resounded everywhere.

A large building loomed in front, in which you knew that a certain pair of brothers were temperarily living. Walking up the steps, you get to their apartment door number and glance at the paper Edward has given you uncertainly. Slowly, you raise your hand to the door and rap your knuckles against the wood.

"Al, get that for me?"

"Brotherrrrr! Why do I always have to do everything?"

"I said get it!"

You resist the urge to burst out laughing at the sound of the boys fighting inside. Those two always made you smile, ever since you were small children. When a disgruntled Alphonse opens the door, he doubles back and gives you the most surprised look a suit of armor could ever give.

[A/N which is like, no expression. XDDD]

"[y/n]!" he exclaims, holding open the door wider for you to enter the warm apartment. You accept the invitation gratefully, and walk inside. "What brings you here?"

"Yeah, why're you here?" Edward asks bluntly. You almost faint at the sight of him, lounging on the couch. He wore a black undershirt, his normal black pants, and a silver pocketwatch. His automail glowed brightly in the dimmed light, and his normally braided hair fell down his shoulders in thick, golden waves. You automatically begin to blush.

"....?" You were out of it for a moment, and begin to blush harder at the fact that you spaced out completely and didn't hear what Edward was saying.

"I said, shouldn't you be at Resembool, making out with all the neighborhood boys?" Edward smirks shrewdly, yet no one ever said that his expression was unnattractive. You shoot a playful glare at him, and Edward's grin widens. "Well, I suppose if you're here..."

"Ohhh brother and [y/n] will be sharing a room," Alphonse giggles. Edward chucks the remote at his head, which tips over on the ground with a hollow thud. "Brother that wasn't cool!" Edward rolls his eyes.

"Mhm, and neither are you," he teases. Alphonse throws his head at his brother with a 'hmph!', and turns around, walking to his room. Edward picks up his younger brother's head and holds it in his hands, then twirls it around like a basketball.

"Is this normal?" you inquire, sitting down next to your friend awkwardly. Your coat was still on, and you were clenching your fists like it was the white-knuckle express. Edward shrugs, and sets the helmet on the table in front of him.

"It is when your brother's headless," he decides. You giggle slightly, it was good to see him less serious and more happy. Then again, everyone was happy on Valentine's day. "So what's goin on the world of Resembool?"

"Well," you begin, wondering where to start. "Uhm.... Winry and Pinako have been unusually busy, uh... Winry smacks me with her tools daily... uhm...uhm... I've been bored outta my mind... oh! I've taken this insane interesting in drawing!"

"Have you now?" Edward smiles slightly, golden eyes twinkling in the light above. "Can I maybe see a picture? One by yours truly?" You nod enthusiastically, and take out a paper that you've recently finished on the long train ride to Central.

"Dang," Edward exclaims, examining each detail that you've drawn. Every line, every curve, every faint eraser mark, he saw it all. He scanned it carefully with those golden eyes, his face full of youthful thought. His lips slightly curved upwards, in a slight smile. "You're quite the artist, [y/n]!" You gush slightly at the sound of that.

"Oh, thanks!" you smile. "What've you been doing? Any new talents you've picked up lately?" Edward frowns slightly, as if thinking, then his eyes light up slightly.

"I wrote a song," he informs you casually. You bounce on your knees, scooting slightly closer to the short boy.

[A/N *gets kicked by a ca-RAZY pipsqueak*]

"SING IT SING IT SING IT!" you squeal. Edward almost pushes you off, but seems to think better of it. "PLEEEASSEEE I WANNA HEAR!" Edward chuckles slightly, finally giving in. Secretly, he was about to turn you down. But one glance into your beautiful [e/c] eyes, and you owned him.

"It's a song about Al and I," he confesses. When you give him a strange look, he frowns. "Not like that! I mean, it's about.... well, it contains my guilt. You know?" You nod your head in understanding, and then look at him expectantly.

Slowly, he began to sing in the most beautiful voice you've heard in your entire life. It was soft, strained, and gorgeous. Each note wavered like an angel on a fragile cloud. You close your eyes, and be careful to hear each and every word.

How can I repay you, brother mine?
How can I expect you to forgive?

Clinging to the past, I shed our blood,
and shattered your chance to live.

Though I knew the laws, I paid no heed.
How can I return your wasted breath?

What I did not know, has cost you dear.
For there is no cure for death.

Beautiful mother, soft and sweet.
Once you were gone, we were not complete.

Back through the years, we reached for you,
alas, 'twas not meant to be.

And how can I make amends?
For all that I took from you?

I led you with hopeless dreams,
my brother, I was a fool.

[A/N I know I use this song a TON, but.... I love it ^^ It's called 'Brothers,' and it's sung by Vic Mignogna. Gaa, I really am obsessed.... you can totally skip through if you wanna.]

"Edward.... you need to sell a record label," you whisper. Edward shrugs, but you could hear subtle crying in the background. That would probably be Al, crying in his room at the sound of all the emotions that this song held. Edward seemed totally indifferent.

"I just write what I feel," he informs you casually. You didn't notice, but Ed was scooting closer to you with the slowest of speeds. You couldn't even tell it was so, until he was close enough for you to see each of his freckles. "I feel a lot, you know."

You blush furiously as Ed leans in, lips inches from yours. But before he could seal the deal with a kiss, you heard a loud, overly exaggerated sound.

"ALPHONSE! HI I UH DIDN'T KNOW YOU WERE HERE!" You facepalm about 1000 times when you see Edward and his brother, fighting over whether or not that was a moment.

For you, you always knew it would be.
