I stumbled backwards, falling over myself onto the ground. I sat there, stunned, the edge of my bed hiding the astounding sight I may or may not have seen.

Heart pounding, I convinced myself that surely I'd been seeing things: I'd been out for hours looking for Monika, and the startling vision of Sayori was just a hallucination. I was simply desperate for help. Right as I'd calmed down and stopped my heart rate from accelerating sky-high, I heard a sweet voice interrupt my soothing process.

"Um, are you okay?" Sayori asked, peering over the edge of my bed on her hands and knees.
"That's pretty clumsy, even for me."

Past shock at this point, I laughed. "Wow, thanks, Sayori."

She smiled. "No problem, um.. Y/N?"

"Y/N," I confirmed.

"Y/N," she repeated. She sat back, looking around. "So, where exactly am I?"

"Not in the game anymore," I sighed, before realizing something. "Wait, how did you even get out?" I looked to my computer, sure I'd closed it since Monika had originally escaped - weirdly enough, it was now open, and to the exact scene I'd been on when the MC and Monika were preparing for the festival.

"It's a funny story, really," Sayori said. "I went over to Y/N's house - um, the other Y/N."

I nodded, gesturing for her to continue.

"I had gone to take a bathroom break from preparing for the festival with Yuri and Natsuki, and when I got back they were getting. . . pretty close," she giggled. "I didn't want to interrupt a possible blooming romance, so I went to check on Other Y/N and Monika because we're neighbors and all, plus I wanted to see what fun they were having preparing.

"When I got there, Monika was gone, and Y/N was. . . weird."

I sat on my bed next to Sayori, and she scooted over to make room for me. "Weird? That's pretty vague."

"Well, it's hard to describe," Sayori said, scrunching her nose in an attempt to put her memory into words. "Other Y/N was sitting there, alone. He was staring at nothing, and his arms were out. I called out his name, and he didn't answer. Then I sat next to him, and he still didn't move. I looked into his eyes, and it was so weird. It was like, I wasn't looking in, I was looking out, and -"

I realize immediately what Sayori had seen. "Your 'retinas were scorched with a permanent copy of the meaningless image'," I said quietly, quoting Monika's first poem.

Sayori nodded, face bright. "You understand! It was just like the first poem Monika shared when we started writing our poems together!" She shuddered suddenly at the memory. "I could see a whole other universe through Other Y/N's eyes, and it was really scary. I don't think I'll ever forget it."

I shook my head, the realization of my predicament setting in. I had not one but two girls escaping from a game into my room, and now another mysterious appearance to explain. I rubbed my eyes with my fists, suddenly exhausted.

"If I warm up some food and grab some things from the convenience store nearby for you, can I trust you to behave?" I asked Sayori, my mind's cogs and gears already spinning rapidly with plans. "When I get home, I'll explain what's going on."

Sayori nodded cheerfully, excited by the prospect of a meal. "Okay!" She hopped off my bed, sliding off the comforter and out of the room, finding her way to the kitchen.

I followed, already drowsy at the anticipation of living with another girl, and an exhaustingly happy one like Sayori at that.
