Since this took so long, it's pretty short, and I basically promised you a bonus part earlier, 'Natsuki and Yuri Cook a Meal!' will be published a little after this. I hope you enjoy, and thank you for tolerating my long writing periods. I love you guys!
It is said that love can do crazy things to a person. The definition of crazy ranges dramatically, from simply being kept up at night with your thoughts about your loved one swirling about, to something much darker: death.
In someone like Hana's case, it was something in-between: being kept up at night with thoughts of eliminating Monika swirling about.
Like her dark thoughts, the current whereabouts of Hana's fantasy subject were somewhere in between a scale: life and death.
Monika had only been here once before, in a distant memory she couldn't quite claim as her own. Rather, it was something she'd read about that could've happened to her if Y/N hadn't saved her. Really, her entire existence in Y/N's reality had been based on their kindness, which was something Monika loved most about them.
If it wasn't for Y/N's kindness, Monika would've been here much sooner than she had arrived.
It was a terrible place, full of in-betweens. Monika was still alive, but she felt as if she had passed into some sort of hellish afterlife. Her eyes were squeezed shut, but she still could sense her surroundings with some sort of third eye. All around her was silent, but the distant ring of her friends' voices echoed in her ears.
Forcing her eyes open, Monika was met with another in-between, this time beautiful and horrific.
Somehow capturing the essence of everything wonderful about the girls - the friendship, the love, the happiness - and everything bad about them - the anger, the betrayal, the hate - and weaving it into the place Monika found herself.
Monika closed her eyes again, avoiding. Is this what being deleted was like? Is this what her friends had been forced into?
Beneath her closed lids, Monika felt tears oozing out and down her cheeks. This terrible in-between was something a different version of herself had committed her loved ones to, all for a selfish escape to Y/N.
This second major realization hurt just as much as the one that had produced this disaster. Monika openly wept now, but the reasons behind her tears were jumbled. Were they for confusion? Shame? The pain of simply being here?
As sobs continued to escape her lips, Monika covered her face, collapsing onto a sort of surface. She lay on the surface, emotions overwhelming her with tears until she felt as if she couldn't breathe.
After throwing a lone pity party for what felt like hours, Monika finished sniffling, resigned to her fate. If this was how the gods would punish her, so be it. At least Y/N would be safe.
Y/N. This was all for them, wasn't it? It was almost unforgivable how much pain Y/N had put Monika through. Their love, which almost destroyed her friends. Them opening the game, and causing Monika's awareness. Their harsh, angry words that stung Monika more than anything she'd ever experienced.
Any logical person would ask why she stayed with them. Was all that pain really worth it?
Monika's answer would always be yes. After all, she loved Y/N and Y/N loved her.
And love does crazy things to a person.

A few days before the deletion, I had gone to apologize to everyone I'd estranged with Monika, which turned out to only be a few: Sara, Emi, and Hana.
