"Where are we off to now?" she asked.
He took a seat across from her and stretched out his legs. "Brooklyn. We're picking up Steve Rogers."
She smirked at him. "Ooooh, your crush?" Phil tossed a pen cap at her and it bounced off her throat; she clutched her neck and laughed. "We could have just driven there; why didn't we pick him up with the car?"
"Because we're going straight from there to the Helicarrier."
"But we still could have driven; it's only, what, a ten-minute drive, right?"
"But we need to take the Helicarrier; this is easier. Plus, it saves me gas."
"We're burning more fuel by taking this thing, driving out to pick him up, coming back, and going to the Heicarrier. What logic is that?" she teased.
"I said it saves me gas."
"Right." she mused.
Jess had decided to stay behind when Coulson picked up Steve, and after a while of waiting, they arrived on the bird. She smiled and grabbed Rogers by the hand. "Steve Rogers!" she said.
"Jessica Repp," he replied with a weary yet genuine smile. "It's been a while. How's life?"
"Fine enough," she said. "I mean, aside from Loki stealing the Tesseract, and me getting left out of all the fun until then..."
He scoffed. "I see you don't like to let the grass grow under your feet. Is it killing you?"
"YES." she said. "Maybe SHIELD will make it up to me by letting me chew off one of Loki's arms; y'know, the good one that he uses to steal things and blow up bases."
Coulson shot a worried glance at her. "Gal, we need Loki alive and unharmed. Hopefully, you can manage that?"
"Ah, maybe..." she said, looking away from Coulson with a devilish smirk.
After an hour or two, the Quinjet landed on the deck of a ship. The people on the bird dismounted and stood looking around at all the other people on the ship. Agents and patrolmen alike paced the deck. She caught sight of Turk and walked over to greet him. When she got to his side, she saw a woman with curly, red hair talking to him. She waited until there was a break in the conversation before inserting herself by extending her hand.
"Hi, I'm Agent Jessica Repp; I see you've met James. You are...?"
The woman shook her hand with a firm grip. "Natasha Romanoff." she said in a silky, smoky tone.
Jessica tilted her head and her smile broadened. "You're Barton's friend, right? He talks a lot about you."
"Yeah. Heard he won't be joining us on this mission," she said, green-grey eyes briefly following someone behind Jessica.
She sighed. "Yeah, Coulson mentioned what Loki did to him. I'm so sorry."
Nat straightened and smirked. "There's nothing to be sorry for; it's Loki who should be sorry. I'm sure he will be when we get a hold of him."
Jess snickered. "Heck, when we get to him? That's only if you can outrun me; I'll put the fear of God in him if I catch him first."
"Isn't Loki a god?" asked Turk.
"He's like a god, I wouldn't actually call him... I-it's just an expression anyway."
"Jess!" Coulson motioned her over. "Come on, we should get inside before we take off."
