"What a rough day." You sighed out as you lugged your backpack over your shoulder, the items inside feeling heavier than they did that morning.
"Let's go get pizza." Taehyung nudged you.
At the mention of the cheesy delicious dish, your mood brightened instantly. Just the thought of a hot and fresh pizza gave you an extra pep in your step.
"That sounds perfect right now."
"Alright then. Let's go." He grabbed your hand, leading you out of the school and into the parking lot.
You smiled giddily at the contact. Taehyung was an enthusiastic individual and often grabbed your hand when he got excited, which you secretly loved, relishing every moment. The two of you piled into his car and made the short trip to the local pizzeria that was a popular hangout spot amongst the town. Taehyung ordered a large pizza with both your favorite toppings and two Cokes. He insisted that Coke was the best thing to have with pizza.
"You can't have one without the other." He had said.
You took a seat at a booth in the back corner of the restaurant, making yourself comfortable on the elongated, vinyl-covered seat."I can't wait for the pizza." You rubbed your stomach. "I'm so hungry."
"Me either. Pizza makes everything better."
"Indeed it does. Though, you could say that about any food."
"Right. Like when I finish a big assignment, I like to reward myself by having a cheeseburger or one of my favorite foods."
"Food is always a good reward." You agreed.
"Speaking of assignments, did you finish that paper for English class?" He asked.
"Yeah." You sighed, feeling exhausted just thinking about it. "It took me 4 hours but at least it's done and I don't have to worry about it anymore."
"You worked on it for 4 hours?"
"Not 4 hours straight. I took a break to eat."
"One break?" He questioned incredulously, looking concerned.
You sat there for a moment before nodding.
"Yeah I guess I did just take one break."
"Y/n." He reached across the table to grab your hand. "You need to take care of yourself."
"I am." You assured him. "It's just a paper. I haven't spent nearly that much time on my other assignments."
"Good. You need to stay healthy."
"Tae." Your expression softened. "I've never had anyone worry for me as much as you."
"Is that a good thing?" He asked.
"Yes it is. It makes me feel really happy. I'm lucky to have someone that cares so much."
"Good." Taehyung's signature heart-melting boxy smile made its grand appearance.A few minutes later, one of the employees came by and placed the pizza down onto the table, Taehyung immediately wafting the delicious smell up towards his face.
"Lay it on me." You held your plate out, waiting for him to give you a slice of the fresh out of the oven pizza.
"Hmm no."
"Screw you. I can just get some myself." You reached towards the pie sitting in the middle of the table, preparing to serve yourself.
Before you could lay a finger on the dish, Taehyung pulled it away.
"Hey." You frowned in disappointment.
"Act cute."
"Not a chance."
"Do it, coward."
"Tae." You whined.
"Just once. Please?"
There was no way you were going to embarrass yourself just for a slice of pizza. When you asked Taehyung to act cute in order to get things in the past, it was always unbearably endearing, but only because he was good at that stuff—you weren't.
Trying to find a way to get out of the situation, you turned your gaze to focus in the distance just past Taehyung's shoulder, your expression dropping.
"Oh no." You muttered.
"What?" He asked, turning around.
While he was distracted, you took the opportunity to snag a slice of pizza, the pie still piping hot from being in the oven.
"There's nothing th—" It only took him a second to realize what had happened. "Hey!"
"C'mon, Tae. That's the oldest trick in the book." You chuckled, blowing the steam off the slice of pizza. "I can't believe you fell for it."
"Consider your pizza privileges revoked. Hope you enjoy eating just one slice."
"You can't do that. You're the one who said I need to take care of myself and now you're going to deny me a delicious meal? That's a little contradictory, don't you think?"
He pressed his lips together.
Got him.
A victorious smirk painted your lips was you took a large bite of pizza, the cheese stretching out as you pulled it away, seeing how far you could take it before it separated. When it did, a series of melodic chuckles left Taehyung. You had a long string of mozzarella hanging from your mouth, the sight making his heart do cartwheels. Without thinking, he pulled his phone out and opened his camera to snap a couple pictures, silently reminding himself to set it as his Home Screen later.
"You'd better delete those." You told him.
"No way. They're going in a special album full of embarrassing candid photos of you."
Okay, that was a partial lie. He did have an album dedicated to pictures he took of you, but they weren't all embarrassing; most of them were pictures of you when you weren't paying attention or were focused on a task, completely unaware that he was capturing memories.
You knew he had taken pictures of you looking much worse, so you couldn't really be bothered, choosing not to bug him about deleting the photos and just enjoy your pizza.
