Chapter four

Pov: Jason

The ride to the hospital was a long one. The roads were blocked by people both in and out of cars. The news had gotten round and now everyone wanted to see where it had happened, wanted to know what had happened, and why. Unfortunately the only way to get to the hospital was to go west as it was at the top of west road. This gave me time to think something I didn't want to do; if I hadn't gone home it would have been me. I'd rather it have been me instead of Ben and Kyle. Kyle always made me laugh with his dumb comments and Ben was always there to back me up. I don't know what I would do without them.

I'm falling' apart by the minute and I think mom can tell, she tried to make it better but only made it worse so eventually she stopped. All I wanted to do was drive, and keep driving', running' away from everything' and everyone. But I’m stronger than that, Ben and Kyle are stronger.

We arrived at the hospital, the place was overflowing' with press. I started to push my way to the entrance with mom following' behind. When we finally made it to the door we were confronted by an officer.

"excuse me ma'am but nobody goes into the hospital unless they are injured I'm goin' to have to ask you to leave." the officer was tall, very tall, he had curly brown hair that was just long enough that it stuck out from under his hat. He had a well toned body one that was used to constant fightin' and hard defined features his nose was. Little crocked looking' like it had been broken, his name badge read 'officer Calvin Whittlock'. I didn't like him he had on one of those smiles that says I know something' you don't know. It made me want to punch him.

"but-" I was cut off before I could finish the sentence. I clenched my fists, about to punch this guy in the face and break his nose again. Mom put a restraining hand on my shoulder; she could obviously see the tension rolling up in my body.

"No buts son" this man doesn't understand they are my friends and there dyeing'. Why won’t he let me explain that?

"B~" I didn't even get the word out before he cut me off again. I mean he didn't look that much older that me maybe in his 20s so what gave him the right to tell me what to do. I felt my blood begin to boil.

"No buts son, or are you arguing' with an officer."

That’s it he's really starting' to annoy me now.

"There... No let me finish." it was my turn to cut him off see how he liked it. Judging' by the look on his face, he didn’t like it at all. For a moment I swear I saw him flinch. "There my friends; my best mates let me see them." officer Whittlock now had on his signature smile on.

"Listen here son you don't talk to an officer like that; that sort of behaviour can get you into trouble."

What gave him the right to call me son he's not my Dad and he's only a couple of years older than me. He seemed to be enjoying' telling' me off, and that smile was starting' to bug me.

"Right hears the deal, if you can tell me the names of your friends and they match the names that they gave me, then you can go and see them; but before you do would you mind answering some of my colleague’s questions first?"

"Kyle Johnson and Ben Montgomery. Can't I see them first and answer questions later?"
