The Mocha Festival

Chapter 4

The family is eating dinner.

"Pass the potatoes, please." said Michelle.

"Pass me the chicken, please." said Sloane to Michael.

"Here." Michael said, passing Michelle and Sloane the requested dishes.

"I have some news!" Sloane said in between bites.

"Oh? And what is that?" Michael asked.

"Well, I want to get a job!" Sloane surprised the family.

"That's great!" Michael declared.

"Thank you! I thought so too. Also......I am pregnant." Sloane looked down as if she was waiting for Michael's comment.

"Really? I have always wanted five kids!" Michael said.

"Me too. Even though I only have two, almost three, I feel like the mother of four, almost five." Sloane said.

"Wonderful speech, Sloane! And I feel like you are my mother." Jessi stated.

"Thank you. And Michael, where will we put the baby?" Sloane asked.

"Well, when Michelle was born four years ago, we had no room in the house for her, so we pushed her in with Jessi. Then, when Marlie was born two years ago, we considered moving. Instead, we pushed her into Mason's room and moved him into the basement storage. I don't know about Sloane, but I believe that every child deserves their own room." Michael declared.

"I agree. And if I know what you mean, you want to move?" Sloane wondered.

"Yes. We will start the search tomorrow. I am going to give Miranda,the nanny, the day off. Jessi, would you like to skip school?" Michael asked.

This perked Jessi up immediately.

"Yes! I would love to help!" Jessi exclaimed.

"And, you can help me look for a new job!" Sloane said.

"Okay. Sloane, do you mind if I go to the store,alone? I need some paper for school." Jessi cautiously asked.

"Sure! Here's a twenty. Buy something nice!" Sloane said.

"Thanks!"
