Percy POV
Back at camp, the morning of the day they went into the city.
I heard Annabeth sigh as we walked across the shore. We held each others hands, our fingers interlaced. She rested her head on my shoulder, and I turned to kiss her curly blonde hair.
After walking for 15 minutes or so, we laid out a picnic blanket to sit on. I set down the basket of food we had brought with us.
When we were settled in, she plopped a grape in her mouth and asked, "So, are you ready to start school this week?"
I groaned. "No," I answered honestly. "I am not ready to destroy my..." I paused as I tried to count on my fingers how many schools I've already destroyed. I gave up after about 10 seconds. I finished, "Whatever number school this is."
"Well, the gods have promised to keep the school itself monster-free, so all we need to do is not aggravate any mortal teenagers," she explained.
"Look at you, Wise Girl. Always got a plan," I laughed as I wrapped my arms around her.
"Like I say, Athena always has a plan," she murmured, snuggling into my side.
I sighed contently before saying, "I love you, Wise Girl," resting my chin on top of her head.
"I love you too, Seaweed Brain," she replied, looking up at me. We both closed our eyes as I leaned down and closed the distance between us. After a few seconds she maneuvered herself to face me and put her hands on my cheeks as the kiss deepened.
Before things could go any further, someone cleared their throat, and we jumped away from each other.
Leo clapped his hands and laughed at us. "Now that that makeout session is over, the gang is gathering at Jason's cabin to discuss today's adventures."
"Okay, Leo, we'll be right there," Annabeth said.
After he had walked away, I leaned in to kiss Annabeth again only to have a finger pressed to my lips.
"You heard Leo," she chastised, smiling slightly. "We have to go to Jason's cabin."
"Spoil sport," I grumbled. She laughed as she stood up and held a hand out to help me up.
Once I was up, I grabbed her hand and started skipping towards the cabins, dragging a laughing Annabeth behind me.
~
As we sat in the Zeus cabin, I thought about how glad I was that my dad had actually made mine semi-hospitable. The cabin had such a cold, empty feeling to it, which wasn't helped by the giant statue of the king of the gods himself that stood in the middle of the room. I looked around, and was happy to see that Jason had made the corner (which was formerly Thalia's) look much more like a camp cabin should. He had an actual bunk there now, and he had some pictures and armor hanging on the walls.
Jason clapped his hands and said, "Alright, people. We are gathered here today to plan what to do for our last Saturday before venturing into the cruel, cruel world known as high school." He shuddered slightly at the words 'high school'.
"Jason, have you ever even gone to school?" Nico asked.
"Well, does Hera sticking me on a school bus count?" he questioned.
"No," Nico deadpanned.
"Hey," Will cut in, "to be fair, your only 21st century schooling experience was a few months at a private school when you were 10."
