"We are now landing in San Francisco"
I let out a silent cheer as the plane landed on the runway. Finally getting away from that one place I used to call home.
Being interested in music while everyone around you only cares about sports can be, quite frustrating. It can make you feel insignificant. Because of that, I had no friends. My parents, however, told me otherwise.
Flashback to 5 years ago
"Mom, no one wants to be my friend" I cried, my head hurt from crying too much.
"Honey, maybe try talking less"
"But mom I stopped talking as much as I used to because of that"
"When you were with your old friends you were talking too much"
"Mom please stop"
It was only the fifth day of 8th grade and I wanted to leave. No one wanted to be my friend, I got shunned, I was getting severely bullied. But somehow my family thinks that I did it to myself.
Back to now
That thought clouded my mind when I was walking off the plane with my luggage in my hand. Unfortunately when I made it into the San Francisco airport, I bumped into someone and it caused me to fall down.
"I am so sorry, let me help you up" a slightly high male voice said. I couldn't see but I reached my hand out and he grabbed it. I stood up and looked at him and holy shit he is hot.
I saw he had short brown hair and a ukulele in his hand
"You like My Chemical Romance?" the stranger asked me.
"I love them, but I'm sorry I have to get go" I said before he cut me off.
"What's your favorite song?" he asked me.
"Probably Disenchanted or Cemetery Drive" I said. I guess I didn't have to be in a rush. I just was not in a social mood, but he seems to like MCR knowing he asked about my shirt. Maybe he is emo like me.
"Cancer has to be my favorite" the stranger said. I nodded in agreement.
"So, ukulele boy, what brings you to Los Angeles?" I asked him.
"Well. I am taking a cab from here to Belmont because I'm going to college there" he said. I opened my mouth in shock.
"No way! I'm going to college in Belmont too!" I said, cheerfully. "Where are you going?" I asked him, a little too excitedly. He chuckled and responded.
"Notre Dame de Namur (this is where I'm going to college aye), tuition is expensive but I got financial aid" he told me. My eyes were bulging out of my head while I told him my response.
"I'm going there too. I'm double majoring in music and theatre" I said, taking breaths here and there.
"Well...me holding this ukulele makes it obvious I'm double majoring in music and theatre as well" he told me and let out another chuckle.
"Well maybe, we could take a cab together so we could both save money" I suggested, then realized I was coming off too strong.
"I actually like that idea" he told me. We were walking towards the exit and then stopped.
"What's your name?" he asked me.
"I'm Melanie, what's your name?" I asked him.
"Tyler"
