Liu Bei thinks that green tea is way too bitter, and should only be drunk during special occasions. You know, when every body else is looking, and you're expected to behave like the ruler of a kingdom. He's well aware of the burden that he has to carry, and he's not complaining about it! Oh no, not in the slightest. But, if he were to be completely honest, being the ruler of a kingdom has more downs than it does ups. If Liu Bei could have it his way, green tea would be flat out banned. Illegal. Forbidden. All teas henceforth would be fruit flavored, and sweet. But a lot of people liked green tea, and Liu Bei's sole purpose was to please the people. 

The worst part about being sick was that the maids would always bring green tea to speed up the process of healing. Liu Bei had to debate the necessity of his recovery all because he didn't wish to drink green tea. Bitter, boring, green tea. 

"Milord? I'm coming in," you warn as you carefully slide the screen door open, tray of tea balanced elegantly in your opposite hand. Liu Bei responds with a soft grunt of acknowledgement as you enter the room. He looks bad, and probably feels even worse. He sniffles softly as you kneel at his bedside and begin preparing his drink. Liu Bei clears his throat, whether it's to get your attention or to clear his airways, you're not sure. 

"You can sit on the bed, if you like?" he offers sheepishly as he tries to scoot over as subtle as possible. The action is tender and affectionate, but leaves an awkward space between the two of you. 

"I would, but I don't wish to get tea on your freshly laundered sheets, milord," you giggle. Instead, you move the chair sitting in front of Liu Bei's desk next to his bed, and set the tray of steaming tea on top of it. Then you slip off your sandals one at a time, and crawl into bed. Minding the temperature of the tea, and the state of the sheets, you gingerly take Liu Bei's cup in hand and blow the steam from the top of it. Once you feel his eyes on you, you take a quick sip from the drink to ensure that it isn't poisoned. Liu Bei scoffs. 

"You know I trust you enough for you to have no need to do that," he reprimands. You can't help but shrug as you pass the beverage to him. 

"Just looking out for you, milord."

He frowns at the liquid in his cup, obviously dreading actually drinking it. He takes a tentative first sip, and you can't help but laugh as his eyes widen comically in response. 

"There's mandarin, and honey, so it doesn't taste so bitter," you reveal, tucking your knees up close to your chest. The look on his face really does warm your heart and the rest of your body for that matter, from your head to your toes. Liu Bei eagerly drinks the rest of it, sighing happily as the last drop hits his tongue. 

"Would you like another cup?" You ask him, already reaching for the pot full of tea. He shakes his head, already reclining back into the pillows. 

"I'm fine, just lie with me for a moment?" He pulls back the covers slightly, an obvious indication to crawl under them. You tut disapprovingly. 

"Xuande...I have my own duties to return to you know?" 

He blushes at the use of his style name, painfully visible considering the paleness of his skin, made even worse by his temporary illness. 

"Just for a moment," he whines. "It won't be long, I'll be sleep in no time," he promises. 

Well it's not like you were going to say no. 

"But if anybody asks, I'll tell them that you ordered me to, and then the blame will be on you," you chide jokingly as you readjust the covers, pulling them over both you and Liu Bei. He gives a long, contended sigh at the warmth enveloping the both of you. 

Like promised, it doesn't take long for him to fall asleep, with one hand gently combing through his hair and the other affectionately brushing his knuckles, it takes him no time to fall asleep at all.
