REBIRTH: A New World (DRAFT)

Chapter V

A new phase in life has started. I have created a masterpiece. But I don't know what to do since after what happened yesterday. I can't just build a whole new Earth, that would take too long and will last longer than my lifespan. There has to be another way. Then it struck on me.

I remember seeing a small folder called "PROJECT ED" on Ben's holodesktop. I'm trying to find out what ED means. Well, Earth starts with E. So maybe it's Earth. But what could D mean? Trying to guess. Looking up the dictionary for words with letter D, and finding every word related to technology. Then I heard Digital somewhere. I have to guess Earth Digital. But what could that folder hold? I got to ask. Ben also has a pile of parts that can be built into a laser. But why? Let me check this out.

I went to Ben's lab and see what he was doing.
"Hey Ben, ummm, what is Project ED?"

"Uh, why?"

"Just curious."

"Okay, it means Earth Digital."

"And what is in it?"

He then takes a long breath.
"Okay, here it goes. I had Project ED in case we needed a new planet to land but we don't have resources to colonize a planet so I built this project so we can create a new Earth by sending a digital file, and fire a laser. The laser will absorb energy and resources to build the planet. The planet will enter a new solar system. And there we can go build a new colony. We can go back to where we started, when the planet is still alive."

I knew it was Earth Digital. Anyways, I have built an intricate plan to make what he said happen.

"Thank you, but I'm here to see this project happen. I'll get Stev on the phone. I know you have the resources for the laser. So, should we start?"

"Oh, definitely sure."

We started creating the laser and we followed Ben's design and we managed to hook it up to the computer and tested with bunch of stuff. I soon realized that for a short period of time, that it will be covered in a toxic compound called hellaxide. Yes, I named it myself. We tested it with a bunch of objects, and it worked well. It was extremely effective. Now we go big.

I went on and spread the word, that we, humanity, will come and rise again. I tried to reach out to everyone. Then I managed to create a huge event with this new thing.

"Hello, everybody. Today, we have a new hope. We will follow in a new world. With us, is a powerful laser. That can turn digital to real life. Amazing, I know. We tested it out by using small objects, and now we are going big with this thing. I call it Project... Earth. Join me and together, a new world will stand in this galaxy. Today we start a new life."
People... didn't believe me. They think we are liars. They don't believe that we are just puppets and the puppetmaster will put us in an even worse situation than where we are now. They think we like because of what I did during the last days of Old Earth.

"You sir are nothing but a liar. You're just somebody who wants to give us an illusion of a better life than we have now. We do have a better life. Now get off that stage and get out of here."
I was simply humiliated. I will have to decide; either I spill the truth or we all die slaves by a mysterious man.

"I'm sorry for what I did during when you left. Me and my friend helped in destroying Earth. I confess to such a sin. But we are sent by the government. We had to do it. But I believe we can change. This is a stepping stone."
I then went home with pride. Felt confident in such a project. But then I heard something back at the hall.

"Sir, he's done."

"That scum..."

I felt I'm now in more danger than ever....
