REBIRTH: A New World (DRAFT)

Chapter II

After the destruction of Earth, the remaining pilots returned to sender. New Earth has begun. The suffering population finally gained a chance to live the lives they hoped for. Humanity is reborn.

After all of this, I get to see Stev again.

"Stev!"
I went straight for him as if I were to hug him.

"Jones! Good to see you man! That was hell of a rough day."
We walked together to the main station.

"Yeah, I know."
After going inside, we were welcomed as if we are the new heroes of this century.

"Sir, the President is asking for your presence in The White Hall immediately."
Rushing towards White Hall Station, we were met by a new environment. These flashy billboards helps me feel modern. People passing by with their smiles makes me wanna smile too. Then, we were suddenly at The White Hall. We didn't notice that we were invited at a party celebrating the New Earth. This place looks way better than the world of apocalypse we experienced back then. The President is standing in front of us, in a stage where thousands can see him from below. He suddenly called us.

"Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you the men who made this mission possible. These are the men who delivered us into this new world."
I went up the stage along with Stev, and the other pilots in those fragment ships people talk about. I felt guilt being praised for something I didn't help do. What I did was explode a planet, nothing else. I attack, not defend. There's nothing really good in what I do. Who knows? I may have thrown off an entire solar system's orbit. Whatever happened back home, had already happened.

Also, the President and other world leaders talked about government unification.
"So, as of today, there will be no such thing as the USA, or the Great Britain, China, Korea, Japan, Russia, every other country we didn't mention, all that no longer exists. Today, We stand together as one. We are the United Republic."
Then, everybody clapped and praised the President.

After the party, the President himself called me in.
"Sir, The President wants to talk to you personally."

"Oh sure, go ahead."
I went inside his office. I was surprised by what's inside. Then I sat down.

"You're the guy who pulled off the laser switch, right?"
He tried to ask.

"No, sir. My co-pilot did. Also, is this a private conversation?"
He then laughed.

"You're funny. You really need to lower your shields. Try to lighten up. You have the right to call me Harren. But please, just don't use my name often. No need for sirs and all of that. Have some fun. This isn't World Of Apocalypse. This is a new modern world where everyone can finally be free of competition. This is a new world... My friend."

"Thank you. I would have needed that advice. After my parents went missing, I felt a severe loss. They're in a better place now. Why did you need to call me here anyway?"

"Well, I'm here to thank you for your bravery in the past mission. May you and your friend be blessed. Here in my hands are your pay for this mission, give this to your friend. This should help you start."

"Thank you... Harren."

"You're welcome."

Today, people got a free phone because the government paid phone manufacturers to help contact others. This phone has a feature where I can track other phones by searching their name. I need to get Stev now but I have no idea so I have to look it up. I found out that he went to the new REBIRTH office in Apollo St, Musk, Florida. The new Florida, not the old one. I went as fast as I can. Then friends welcomed me with delight.

"Welcome back, Jones!"
I soon replied back.
"Hey, guys! I missed you all."

"Youu're back!"

"Yeah... But wait, where's Stev?"

"He's in the new Labs, sir."

"Okay."
Coming in the new Labs made me feel something new, I gave Stev his money, then I settled in like the others. But something smells fishy...
