Hello lovelies. I want to start this author's note by thanking each and every one of you that sent your condolences and prayers for me and my family. It really meant a lot to have so much love pouring in from all of you during a rough couple of weeks. I was thankful to have a couple weeks away from Wattpad to just really spend some time with my family and not have updates looming over me but I am happy to say that I'm back. I know it wasn't the longest break but honestly I am so ready to come back and be with my Wattpad family again and I'm really excited to share these updates with all of you. Again I thank all of you for your patience and support and without further ado...the updates!

The weekend passes slowly as it always does so when Monday rolls around I'm actually excited to start the week and see my boyfriend.

We usually text over the weekend and even partake in a call or two if my dad isn't home but I hadn't heard from him all weekend and to be honest I was getting a little worried.

I climb out of bed and pad over to my window, looking out at the yard but find that Lucas' truck is nowhere to be seen.

I turn on my heels and quickly dash downstairs to see if perhaps they just send Lucas out on an errand but my father's booming voice lets me know that Lucas is indeed just not here today.

"I'm just saying Topanga; the kid wanted to keep his job here and against my better judgement we let him and now he's not here without a single call to excuse his absence."

"I'm sure he has a good reason Cory. The boy hardly seems like the irresponsible type" my mom says in an attempt to calm him down.

"I don't care what his reason is" my dad snaps, turning his head and seemingly noticing my presence for the first time. "Do you know where he is?" he demands taking me aback.

Of course it would make sense that I knew where he was but I really didn't, although I wish I did so I wasn't going crazy with worry.

"Dad I have no idea where he is" I reply honestly.

"Mhm" my dad hums, unconvinced. "Go get ready for school or we're going to be late" he adds dismissively.

I roll my eyes but turn to leave the room nonetheless and head upstairs to get dressed.

I press send on yet another text to Lucas and at this point it's clear that he's not going to answer me but a part of me kept thinking that this time he would answer.

The bell rings signaling the end of class and as I'm standing up Maya comes up to me with a giddy smile that's about the size of the state we're living in. "Guess what?" she exclaims.

I chuckle, grabbing my stuff and following her out of the room. "What?" I ask though I already knew what she was going to say; Josh had already called to arrange plans to stay with us while he was here for the formal.

"Josh is going to the winter formal with me!" she exclaims, bouncing up and down in pure joy.

"Congrats Maya. I'm glad you're gonna get to go" I add as I begin to wallow. I was happy for her but a part of me wished that I could just ask Lucas without feeling guilty for taking time from his mom.

"You are too" she argues. "Come on Riles" she insists, bumping my shoulder. "Just ask him. Is he gonna still he at work when you get home tonight?"

I bring my bottom lip between my teeth. "Uh he actually didn't even come to work today" I explain. "And he's not returning my texts."

Her eyes widen. "You don't think it's his mom do you?" she asks, panic rising in her voice.
