As time goes by Thomas and Jessica become closer even though Jessica is leading a double life. A girlfriend by day and a cold, ruthless assassin by night, she struggles for years to conceal her identity from the one she loves. She fears that he will not be able to handle the truth.
Thomas and Paul were planning a fishing trip when Jessica walked in, "Going somewhere without me I'm shocked," she said sarcastically, "How long are you boys going to be gone? Maybe mom and I can have a girls night out or two."
"You mean that you won't just sit around and wait for me to return," Thomas said with a smirk. "We should be back in about two weeks. Don't worry your pretty little head maybe I will bring back a surprise for you if you are good."
"Yea like what, a fish? No thanks. I have had enough fish to last me a lifetime," Jessica said as she handed him his fishing pole.
Dianna called to Jessica, "Jessica, can you come here, your father wants to talk to you about something."Jessica gives Thomas a kiss before leaving.
"Is that everything?" Paul asks as he puts the last of his stuff into the truck.
"I think so. I'll go over the checklist just to be sure, did you get any oil to fry the fish in?" Thomas asked.
Paul said, "I'll go get that right now."
Thomas finished going over the checklist as Paul went to get the oil. Upon entering the kitchen Paul overheard his father telling Jessica, "The first step is for you to find your target. This one has been slippery and she thinks that someone is watching her every move because of her husband leaving her. She is about the foulest and most paranoid person I have ever seen. She cut me off at the store line and told me to go away. Then she told the clerk not give her any bugged money. After that, she proceeded to check each bill to make sure it was real and not bugged. She is a real basket case."
Paul interrupted, "I could not help but hear you're going after that crazy lady while we are gone, be careful she's not one to be faced head-on. The last time I tried she almost gutted me. On the upside though, the cops won't even come out when she calls anymore. She has made too many false reports."
"Well that's helpful thanks," Jessica responded.
"Got to go now we'll see you guys when we get home good luck," Paul said on his way out.
"You had better go say goodbye before you miss them," Rick told her.
Jessica shot out the door before the sentence was even completely out of her father's mouth. She ran out to the truck and gave Thomas a big kiss, "There, maybe that will last me till you get home. I love you come home safe," she called as they drove away.
Now on the road, Thomas shows Paul the ring and says, "This is the surprise that I have for Jessica when we return. I bought it yesterday while I was working in Southport."
Paul took the box and opened it, "Why wait till we return?"
Thomas explained, "When we return it will be our seventh anniversary since we had met."
"That makes sense, I guess. Have you thought about how you are going to ask her?" Paul asked while handing the ring back.
"I figured that I would call a family meeting and have a party and propose in front of everyone. We had already planned on having a September wedding, this way we could make it official. We don't want anything fancy just a simple wedding," Thomas replied.
Paul sat in shock for a moment when he heard this, "You'll be lucky if you don't die for that if Rick is there."
"I ain't afraid of Rick, he wouldn't hurt a fly much less kill me," Thomas said snickering at the thought.
Jessica left the house around 8:00 p.m. She had a pretty good idea of where to find her target, the same place she has been every night for the past month, the cemetery. Night after night she would go to her fathers grave and sit there talking to it for hours. If someone else came into the cemetery she would promptly leave so Jessica knew she had to be there hiding in the shadows before the woman arrived. Then and only then she could make her move. Since it was a cemetery, Jessica would not kill her there but rather bring her back to the chamber where she could have a little fun with her before she died.
Rick followed secretly to make sure things didn't get out of hand, he was very protective of his little girl. After all, she was the only one left to continue a pure bloodline and though her idea of boys was not the same as his, he knew that she understood the importance of the bloodline.
Jessica arrived and saw that the place was empty. There was an old tree near the grave where she would lay and wait. A couple of hours went by and sure enough, the woman came. As she sat and talked Jessica crept up behind her and struck her over the head. She then pulled out a cloth and soaked it in chloroform and placed it over the woman's mouth and nose she struggled for a moment and went limp. She then carried her back to the chamber and placed her on the torture rack and went to work restraining her. Soon she would wake and the real fun would begin.
The morning after they left Paul and Thomas arrived at their destination and set up camp. They decided to eat some breakfast before going fishing. As Paul fried some eggs and bacon Thomas gathered some wood for fires. The two of them ate and discussed where they would go for the best results. They decided to go to a local overflow pond and check it out to see how recently the water had overflowed.
Day after day went by and the boys were very happy with the catches they had made. On the last day, they decided to catch just one more apiece and leave. "This is the last one so you'd better make it a good one," Thomas called to Paul as they started down the trail to the pond. Within twenty minutes they had both caught one more and headed home.
"They should be back at any time," Rick told Jessica.
"Don't worry dad the mess was cleaned up hours ago," Jessica replied
"Well I've got to go to work, my pager went off, so give me a call when the boys arrive," and with that Rick left.
A couple of hours later the boys still had not made it home. Jessica began to worry that Thomas had found out something and wasn't coming back, and went looking for them. On the road out of town, she saw something, smoke rising from the roadside ditch. She quickly rushed to the scene where she found Thomas and Paul trapped in the truck. The motor had both of them pined and Paul wasn't looking so good. Jessica immediately called her father and told him what she had found and where they were. He rushed right out with the police.
Upon arrival Paul died, his final words to Jessica didn't make sense at first. As Thomas was taken to the hospital Jessica thought about the words, "He's going to tell . . . " The more she thought about this the more she began to suspect she was right.
Calling her father over she told him what Paul's last words were, and with a grim expression, he said, "I'll take care of this," as he turned to walk away Jessica stopped him.
"Bring him home I want to watch him suffer for what he did. He took Paul away and for that, he cannot be forgiven."
Rick nodded his head and walked on knowing full well what his daughter had planned.
