LANSDRAKE HOUSEHOLD

Veronica just arrived from school and as soon as she opened the mansion's door she saw all the personnel bustling all over the place, a smell of herbal medicine was wafting in the air. It took a few seconds before she realizes what was happening, her mom's illness probably attacked again. She threw her bag down as she dashed off towards the master's bedroom.

There she saw her mother weakly laying down on the huge bed, her father was sitting beside her mother while holding her thin, pale hands, Little Alice was laying next to Elizabeth, tightly clutching her bunny doll.

Richmond realized that someone entered the room and decided to see who it was; there he saw their eldest trying to stop her tears from flowing by pursing her lips tightly, careful not to make a sound. He gestured her to come closer and Veronica obediently walked towards him. "How was your first day sweetheart?" he asks as he caresses his daughter's face.

Veronica forced a smile but the rim of her eyes was still red. "It was good daddy, I became the first graders representative because I topped the entrance examination..." she paused before continuing "...Do you think mommy will be happy? Will she get better after hearing this?" the tears she's stubbornly holding down finally fell.

The sight broke Richmond's heart, he instantly wiped her tears away and placed her in his lap. "Mommy will definitely be energized when she wakes up after you tell her this". He kisses Veronica's forehead, this daughter of his was not one that cries easily so whenever she does, it would bring him great grief.

The three were watching Elizabeth sleep and as if feeling the stares, Elizabeth's eyes opened and she immediately smiled weakly towards her daughters. Alice couldn't control the impulse to hug her mother and as soon as her warm tears flowed in Elizabeth's neck, Elizabeth lightly laughed "Mommy feels sorry to make my babies worried, mommy will get better soon".

She looked at her husband before inquiring hesitantly "Richmond, shouldn't you be attending today's fête?"

Richmond shook his head and gently intertwined his perfectly slender fingers to Elizabeth's. "What can be more important than seeing my dear wife get better?". A warm smile appeared in his handsomely sculpted face.

Elizabeth's face softened hearing her husband's response but her face immediately hid away the affection, her brows creased and he eyes were turned fierce. "You worry wart! You may be my husband but before that, you are the head of the Lansdrake household, it is one of your responsibilities to represent us at the fête".

Richmond at felt at loss, 'Why won't you let me spoil you? I wanna take care of you than go to a stupid party, you idiot! Huhu.'.

"I... I understand wife but you have to promise me that you'll rest well while I'm gone ok?" Richmond said resolutely.

Elizabeth giggled lightly as she nods. 'What an overly doting husband I have'.

Alice was silently listening 'till now before speaking, "Alice wants to stay with mommy". She hugged Elizabeth tighter and buried her head at her mother's chest.

The couple looked at each other with helpless smiles. "Okay, Baby Alice can stay and help daddy take care of mommy in his stead" Richmond said before looking at Veronica "How about you sweetie?"

Veronica really wanted to stay as well but she didn't have the heart to make her father go to a party alone. 'Daddy will be lonely if none of us accompanied him'. "I... I will go with daddy".
