The next night, I sat at the kitchen table doing homework. Well, trying to do homework. My mind was focusing on everything but where Macbeth's head ended up. Dad said he had to "work late" tonight. That was after he had emerged from the basement with a large backpack that he claimed to be tools, but he was obviously lying with it truly being a sack full of weapons. Weapons from his creepy, disturbing room in the basement that felt more like a serial killer's den. I shuttered remembering all of the horrific guns, swords, and stakes he had aligned on the walls and put neatly away in cupboards. I thought about all of the possible things he was going to do to the Immortals when he got to them; each one making me sicker than the last.

Thankfully, my mind was snapped out of the disturbing haze it was in when my mom came rushing down the stairs. She was in her scrubs and looked exhausted. She had already work a ten hour shift today and I remembered she told me she was on call as well. She spun around the kitchen in quick circles as she put her hair into a pony tail. "Where are my car keys?" She asked frantically.

I pointed with my pen to the counter by the sink. "Behind you."

She spun around and let out a sigh of relief. Then she grabbed them and turned back to me. "I got called in," She told me in a tired voice. "So can you pick Jana up from Chloe's at 8:30?"

"Yeah." I replied with a quick glance at the clock. Quarter to seven.

"Thank you so much, honey." She replied in a grateful tone with a smile. Then she rushed over to me and gave me a quick kiss on the forehead. "Have a good night." She was practically in the entry way as she finished her sentence.

"You too!" I called after her. Then the door slammed shut.

I pursed my lips as I looked down at my English notes absentmindedly. I tapped my pen quickly on the table for a few moments until a plan basically slapped me across the face. I shut my notebook and pushed myself up from the table. This could be one of my only chances to do this, so it had to be now.

I swiftly moved to the basement door and marched down the stairs taking them two at a time. I studied the bookcase with a frown as I made my way over to it. The fact that there had been a secret room down here, hiding behind a regular, not suspicious bookcase all this time, made my blood boil. I felt so stupid and fooled. 18 years of lies. I huffed as I contemplated just throwing it to the floor and lighting it on fire. But instead, I grabbed the book I knew the key was in and opened to the page the key was stuck in like a bookmark. I tossed the book onto the floor and stood there staring down at it as if all of this was the book's fault. Then, I pushed aside the bookcase and stood face to face with the door. I stood up straight as if to show the door that I wasn't afraid of what laid on the other side of it. I took two confident steps forward, stuck the key in the lock, turned the knob, and pushed the door open.

I let out a small breath as I stepped into the room. It was dark, but again, I didn't need light to see what surrounded me. For a reason I couldn't understand, the fact that I was using my Immortal sight to look around this horrifying room, made it seem scarier. I quickly walked over to the string light and pulled. The room instantly lit up, exposing the weapons in the florescent light. I walked around slowly, examining everything intently. The huge map with all the X's and red string pinned from place to place, caught my attention. I noticed that there were quite a few more X's in certain areas than there was the last time I saw it. I tried to keep the bile from rising in my throat. I continued walking, studying the absolutely ridiculous amount of weapons.

In the far corner of the room, there was a drawer. I walked over to it and pulled it open. Inside it was a black book. Curiosity obviously getting the better of me, I took it out. It looked like it was old, but it seemed like the binding had been replaced. I opened the book and started skimming through it. The contents of the book made me feel like I was about to heave up my stomach. It was literally a book about different torture methods for Immortals. Each one was more disgusting and evil than the last. I had no idea how to process this. My father owned this book. I remembered what Serena said about my dad not just simply killing Immortals, but took pleasure in torturing them, too.
