After two weeks of torturous waiting, the cast list was finally posted. The second the bell rang, Ryan was already gone. He quickly stuffed binders, folders, and books into his backpack and was off like a shot. After grabbing his tenor sax case, he headed straight towards the chorus room. The list was posted and people crowded around it, Ryan pushed his way towards the front.
First he checked the ensemble list, his name was no where to be found. A wave of relief and excitement washed over him, this meant he had gotten a lead. His eyes glanced towards the lead's list, Jack Kelly: Ryan Jackson.
Ryan swore his heart stopped. Ok, there is no possible way I got Jack. There has got to be some mistake there is not possible way I got the part when even Evan London tried out for it. He thought, in a daze of sorts. That daze was swept away when he got tackle-hugged by his best friend, Leah Lopez.
"RYAN, I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!" She practically shouted, her grip tight around him.
"Leah, I kinda need to breathe." He managed to say as his lungs slowly collapsed.
"Oh sorry, kinda forgot about that." She released him.
Ryan smiled and gratefully refilled his lungs with air, "Still, you got Jack!" Leah exclaimed.
"Yeah. I have no idea how." Ryan chuckled.
"Cause you're an amazing singer and actor." A voice said from behind him.
Ryan turned around and was face to face with Evan London. His long time idol and kinda sorta definite crush. Evan was the kind of guy who got a lead every year, he was the kind of guy that everyone idolized. And the fact that he was complimenting Ryan nearly gave the boy a heart attack.
"Oh, uh, t-thanks." Ryan said, a slight blush creeping onto his cheeks.
"I'll see you next week at rehearsals, maybe we could run lines together." Evan said, heading off.
"D-Did that just happen?" Ryan asked.
"Yep." Leah said.
"Am I dead?" Ryan asked.
"I don't think so." Leah replied.
"Are you sure?" Ryan asked.
"Do you want me to go off on two hour long rant about how we might jut be reliving past lives while we're asleep and our brain power is being harvested by robots to power themselves like in the Matrix?" Leah asked.
"Definitely not. Never again shall I listen to that ridiculously detailed rant that nearly bored me to death." Ryan said.
Leah chuckled, "You better hurry, don't want to miss your bus. Anyway, I've got robotics. See you on Monday, Ryan!" Leah headed off down the hall towards the robotics classroom.
"See you Monday, Leah." Ryan waved then rushed towards his bus.
As he sat down and put in his earbuds, a wave of emotions came over him. This was actually happening. He was actually going to star in a play as a lead. Everything was going to be amazing.
