I let the warm water run down my naked body, relaxing my tense muscles.

Breathing in the steam, I rested my heavy head on the cold shower wall. There couldn't be a better time to be home right now. Everyone around me is perfect. Life is perfect.

A small smile spread onto my lips as the water continues to rush down my body.

I turned off the shower, before grabbing a towel that hung on a rail next to the shower door. I wrapped the soft, dry fabric around my body as I stepped out of the shower and onto the blue bathmat.

I walked out the door and headed towards my room. I grabbed a black tank top and pair of blue pyjama bottoms from my chest of draws by the window on the left wall. Getting dressed, I then climbed into my warm bed and under the cotton sheets. Laying down, my hand goes straight to my locked Mason got me, grinning at the ceiling like a lunatic.

An hour passed and I'm still not asleep and staring up at the blank ceiling. Why the can't I sleep? Sighing, I turned on the lamp beside me before grabbing The Fault In Our Stars and my black rimmed reading glasses. Flipping to where I was up to, I sat up and began reading.

Flipping through the pages, tears spring to my eyes when I reach chapter 21. 'Augustus Waters died eight days after his prefuneral...' The moment I read the words sprawled out in front of me, my heart begins to hurt. Tears spill out from my eyes and down my chin onto the paper.

I was able to finish the chapter through a blurred vision before slamming the book closed and placed in beside me on the table next to my bed. When the tears subside, they leave a sting in my eyes behind.

The sharp sting warns me to close my eyes to try and soothe them. Closing my eyes it takes seconds before the sting turns to drowsiness and II fall asleep.

I woke up to the sun shinning in through my curtains, radiating onto my face. Trying to open my eyes, I squint in the direction of the curtains before pulling a pillow from behind my head and placing onto my face. Seconds later I heard the piercing sound of my alarm screeching in my ears. Groaning, I slammed my hand  onto the loud digital device to turn it off. I rolled out of bed and grabbed my blue t-shirt and my black shorts from my chest of draws, replacing my pyjamas with the clothes in my hand.

Heading down stairs, Austin already sat at the dining table, eating breakfast. Cornflakes, I think.

"Your up early." I said as I take out a box of coco pops, pouring myself a bowl. Looking up at Austin from the kitchen counter where I stand with my bowl of cereal.

He shrugged, not looking up at me but down at his phone while eating his breakfast. I took a bite of my breakfast before asking: "So where were you last night exactly?" I smirked, knowing he's hiding something from mum and dad. Although he can't hide anything from me, no matter how hard the kid tries.

"I already told you. I was at football practice." He answered simply. I arched an eyebrow at him. He can't be serious?

"You know I don't believe that. Now tell me where you were." I glared at him, taking another spoon full of my cereal.

"Fine." He caved, letting out an exasperated sigh. "I was spray painting a sign with Delia and the guys. Happy?"

"So...vandalizing were we?" The thing with Austin, I'm never really surprised by his vandalizing.

"Yes," He slouched further into the chair as he finishes off his breakfast.

I shake my head at him, "your dads going to kill you if he finds out."

"That's why he won't find out now will he?" He told me, his tone serious and objectifying.

"I could tell him." I threatened him. His eyes found mine, glaring me.

"No you won't." He interjects.

"What's in it for me then?"I raised my eyebrows.

"$50." He tried to bribe me. The dude can do better than that.

"Nope." I shake my head, putting the spoon in my mouth.

"$50 and I will do your chores for a month?"

"Fine," I sighed as I give in. That little blonde step brother of mine will be the death of me one day.

I rolled my eyes and finished off my breakfast before grabbing my sneakers.

I put them on and grabbed my keys from the white kitchen counter.

"See you at school Austin." I yelled as I walked out the front door, closing it shut behind me. The summer air hits my face as I walked towards my blue car, inhaling the fresh air. I love summer.

I unlocked the door and pulled on the cold door handle to open the drivers side of the car. I climbed into the drivers seat and turn on the ignition. The car purring to life.

I pulled out of the drive way and headed towards school.

When I reach school the first thing I see is Mason, Izzy and Kyle standing outside the school gates, Mason leaning against the gate chatting to Izzy and Kyle who stand in front of him. I pull into a car spot and walked over towards them.

Please bare with me here.
