It was so soft, and so innocent, that I didn't even question it until he was gone.
One second his lips were against mine, and the next, I was alone again.
I attempted to comprehend what had just taken place, resolving to the fact that I could not.
I was fairly certain about only two things:
One: I was pretty sure that Okieriete Onaodowan had kissed me.
And two: I was pretty sure that I was okay with that.
At least, I was at the time.
I don't even remember walking home, but I guess I did. I showered and climbed into bed, my brain buzzing.
All I could think about was him.
I tossed and turned, my eyes wide open.
Had Jasmine actually been right about him?
Well, I wouldn't exactly be surprised if she was.
But I had denied it so many times.
I finally relented and pulled out my phone, sending Jasmine a text message.
Jasmine
«Hey, I think you may have been right about Oak»
My phone rang almost immediately. I answered it.
"Spill." She said.
"Why are you up? It's like, midnight."
"Ant and I stayed up at his place to have a movie marathon but that's unimportant. What happened?"
"He, uh, he kissed me." I stammered.
"WhAT?"
"Jas, please," I heard Anthony's voice in the background.
"Sorry." She said. "Okay, wow. How did that happen?"
I rubbed my eyes. "I don't know. One minute we were just talking, and then—"
"And then you were making out?" She asked, followed by a crash in the background.
"No!" I said quickly. "It was one kiss!"
"Did it mean anything?"
I sighed. "I don't know."
"How do you feel?"
"I don't know that either. I think I'm okay with it, I mean, I think I really like him, but I don't know if he meant anything by it."
"You like him?!" She said excitedly.
"Yeah, and I don't think it's just because of tonight."
"That's amazing." She said, her voice hinting that she was probably smiling.
"Not really."
"Is it messing with you?" She asked, sympathy in her voice.
"I think so. I can't sleep."
"Just talk to him about it tomorrow."
A muffled voice sounded again in the back. "Ant says he demands an explanation for the conversation he just heard part of."I sighed. "Pass him over."
"He says forget it." She said, laughing. "He'll talk to you tomorrow. Get some rest."
I nodded. "Okay. Thanks, Jazzy. Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
