Author’s Note ~

Holy wow it’s been ages since I’ve written anything! But guess who’s back, back again? ;) No? Okay I’ll shut up now… I’m not one for crappy excuses and saying all this stuff, but I guess I lost my creative train whilst writing this, somewhere along the way I derailed and I didn’t call RACQ to help, oopsie.  -_-  ANYWAYS, I’m back better and more creative, and so is the story! With a slight makeover and I mean who doesn’t love makeovers right? New cover, new name, I think it’s all helped in me getting my spark back for the novel and I hope you all love it as much as you did before :3 I love you all so much and happy reading my beautiful pumpkins!

Michael's POV ~

I struggle to open my eyes feeling insanely drugged up unable to comprehend what’s going on fully. I look down at myself and see my clothes are shredded to pieces. My ears adjust to the communicating animals in the forest surrounding me, the odd owl hooting in the distant and crickets chirping near me. I roll over from my left side to my right with a scuffle, realising my hands have something holding them together. A cable tie. I sigh in exasperation feeling more frustrated than before realising I’m pretty much screwed now. I look around seeing if there’s anything that would break it off but come to the sad conclusion I’m gonna be like this for a while. Suddenly, I see a slightly crumpled noted a few feet away from me. I worm my way around before managing to stumble onto my feet, regardless of how dizzy as I get, and open the piece of paper.

There’s money for a plane ticket and enough to keep you surviving for a while. Not a word is to leave your mouth about what’s happened so get out of Dwayne’s life and start fresh. If you don’t, the ones closest to you will pay the price.

I don’t even realise I’m crying until I see the odd droplets of water landing on the note. I have no choice but to leave because I couldn’t live with myself knowing I would be the cause for Dwayne and Heather being hurt. I shove the note in one of my pockets and begin walking away from where I woke up with no sense of direction, just pure hope that I’ll find my way by some miracle.

Dwayne’s POV ~

“Dwayne, it’s getting late, you probably have no idea what you’re on about because you’re worried about Michael.” Heather says.

“I don’t care how late it is, I know that spot. I’m certain about it. I’ll drive there myself if I have to” I argue.

“If you’re sure we’ll come with you, but I honestly hope you’re right, for Michael’s sake and mine. I need my beauty sleep” Heather laughs. “I’ll go and grab Ryan and we’ll head off yeah?”

“Okay, I’ll meet you downstairs” I say before going to get my jacket and putting on my shoes.

Michael’s POV ~

I continue stumbling through what seems to be a never ending forest tripping over logs I can’t see and rustling leaves as I walk. I look over into the distance and see the full moon’s reflection beating down on what seems to be a large lake. It looked amazing at night time, a soft fog drifting across the water with the ambient sound to match its sheer beauty and mystery. Somehow this placed started to seem familiar, like I’d been here before. I reassured myself it was just the side effects of whatever drugs I got given, I had to be delirious. I continue walking before I notice what appears to be a dirt track leading in the same way I’m headed. Civilisation had to be close, especially seeing the tracks looked to be from a car. I continued forward hoping it would lead me to somewhere closer where I could get this bloody cable tie off of my hands.

Dwayne’s POV ~

The car ride was mostly silent the whole way. I pushed aside the feelings of tiredness because I knew I had to try and stay focused in the push to find Michael.

“Are we there yet?” Heather complained. “My ass is going numb, I need to walk, I want coffee, I’m bloody tired, I want to find Michael!” her voice rising as she grew increasingly more and more annoyed.

“Go to sleep, we’ll wake you afterwards if you like?” Ryan suggested. “I’ll have Dwayne keeping me company too”

Without a moment passing Heather took the opportunity and ran with it turning in her seat reclining it a bit and closing her eyes to sleep.

“I think we’re about thirty minutes away, according to the GPS” Ryan chimed. “Do you think he’ll be okay?”

“I hope so, if he’s not someone’s gonna have to deal with me otherwise” I warn.

Michael’s POV ~

My progress seemed to be going well so far, I noticed what appeared to be a road in the not too far distance. If I made it that far, hopefully by morning I’d be able to hitch a ride or walk to somewhere close if it wasn’t too far away. I make it to the edge of the road and take a few moments to catch my breath after walking for god knows how long, when suddenly I get a sickening feeling in my stomach. I feel it bubbling inside of me ready to explode. Oh god, I’m gonna throw up. I run back to the nearest tree resting my hand against the trunk before throwing up what seemed to be all of my insides. I’d never felt worse in my life but I was hoping that was the last of the medication leaving my system. Nope there’s a round two. Please tell me that’s all of it.

Dwayne’s POV ~

“We’re almost there I think, at the end of this road there should be a car park if we turn left, and hopefully we’ll be a step closer to Michael” Ryan says with enthusiasm.

I look out the window and see the trees rolling by under the soft glow of the moonlight, the occasional break between them revealing the reflection of the water bouncing back up the starry night sky. I knew we were nearby, my head started getting memories of the time I brought Michael here on our first date. We continue driving before getting to the end of the road and finding the car park.

Michael’s POV ~

Before I managed to stop throwing up, my chance of getting out of here easily was ruined. A car drove past before I had the chance to wave them down. I notice a sign on the side of the road miraculously near where I was and it stated the nearest service station wasn’t for another three kilometres. I guess I’d better keep walking, again.
