His room was very plain. The floor was a dark brown wood, sparkling clean, free of any filth. He had an absolutely gigantic bed. The covers were black, and the pillows pure white. He had a dresser full of clothes, all from Hot Topic. One rug laid on the floor, in front of his couch. The couch was a deep blue, and had a glass table in front of it. The table was far away from the couch, due to Death’s long legs. A fireplace sat in front of the table, and was blazing brightly. Death had an object from each year that was important to him. That’s what his spare room was full of. Objects of each year. From his year of birth in Forty Five A.D, he had a small wooden crib, hidden under a sheet. All throughout history, he had collected one, on New Year’s Eve, after pondering about it for the week before the occasion. On top of the fire place, was one of his items. It was the day Natalie was born, and connected to him as his soul mate. A small giraffe sat on the mantel, surrounded by black roses.
Death walks over to his bed and lays Natalie on the bed carefully. Her black hair falls over her eyes again. Death slowly reached his shaky hand out from his sleeve and brushed the hair from her face, tucking it behind her ear. Her red lips, stained with her own blood, curled into a weak smile. He let his hand linger on the side of her face, stroking her skin with his thumb. He jerked away his hand as her hand twitched and she smiled a little more. Death’s heart pumped quickly from fear of being caught. He pulled the covers over her and stared down at her face. “Vale amissi amore.” He whispered and placed his lips gently on her forehead. His face burned with a blush, as he kissed her forehead, and his lips tingled. His words that he said practically burned into his mind. ‘Goodnight, my lost love…’ The words swirled around his mind, and he lay on his couch, closing his eyes. Death had a feeling, for the first time, in a long, long, long time, that he wasn’t going to be alone anymore. He had literally found his soul mate. With that thought, Death himself smiled, and fell into a deep peaceful sleep.
