Something cold dripped on my face. I didn’t want to open my eyes. Another drop. It had to be just a dream, and I was drooling or something. Another drop. I groaned and swatted at my face, touching my cheek. There was a thick liquid on my face… I opened my eyes, my heart racing with fear. Jeff stared down at me with a cold, harsh stare. His cut smile was dripping onto my cheek, and the blood ran down my face. I whimpered in fear and looked around. I tried to sit up, but I couldn’t. There was a strap around my waist. I wasn’t on the couch anymore… I was on a metal table. Eyeless Jack stood in the far corner, a scalpel in hand. Jeff must have noticed my scared and surprised face, because he started to laugh. The laugh had madness and insanity all wrapped up into his laugh.

“Let’s make you beautiful like me…” Jeff cackled and raised his knife.

I was frozen in fear. All I could do was whimper and shake. I couldn’t talk. I couldn’t scream. I couldn’t move.

Jeff dug his cheek into my cheek, making a smile in my face.

I screamed in pain, and tried to claw at his face. Jack strapped down my arms, and sneered at me.

“I can’t wait to sink my teeth into your sweet kidneys…” He growled.

I whimper. The pain spread over my body. My throat felt raw from all the screaming. Death! Of Death! Where are you?! I need you! Pills were shoved in my mouth. I passed out from the pain.

Death roared in anger, and threw Jeff and Jack away from her body. What had they done to my love!? Death’s anger bubbled over and surged through his body, as he spewed out Latin. He had made Jeff, and Jack pass out from pain. He growled loudly. He would get them later. Right now, he had to make sure Natalie was okay. He stormed over to her body, his eyes softening. Her hair was brown, not black anymore. They had ripped an eye from her socket, and wrenched a clock into her left eye socket. Her right eye wasn’t silver. It was now a glowing green, that glowing in the dark and shone brightly. Her face was clean now. They had cleaned her up, before they were going to try to kill her. A smile was cut into her face, and was stitched up. The eye with the clock in it, had blood seeping from it. He chewed on his lip. He thought she was even more beautiful now. But, the drugs they gave her… Would she still remember him? Would she still love him? How would she act?

Get up now… Please Natalie… I love you… I need you in my life…’ Death’s silent plea rang through my mind. My head felt fuzzy, and different. I didn’t know how to describe it… It felt like someone was in there, controlling me. And it didn’t like me. It wanted me to change. It wanted me to be who I was born to be. It wanted me to be a monster.

Awake Clockwork… Take on your new life with pride. You are no longer simply Natalie Ouellette. You are Clockwork.’ The voice whispered.

I was Clockwork… I was designed to help humans. I was made to help them tell when their time was up. When a human’s time was up, I would have to kill them. Time makes you live through torture. You slowly progress in life, being controlled my society, until you come to the conclusion that you have no purpose. It’s a vicious circle. I am Clockwork.

My eyes fluttered open to see Death standing over me. His cloak was draped over his head. “You’re so beautiful Natalie…”

“I am no longer Natalie. I am Clockwork. Only you may call me Natalie.” I say in a hushed tone, and sit up.

Death smiled and nodded. “Yes.” He held out his hand.

It felt weird to lift up my hand. I took his hand. He helped me stand. He waved a hand in front of my face. A small mirror formed. I then saw my face. A lopsided grin stretched up my face. A small tingle of pain ripped through my face as the stitches stretched out. My green eye glowed brightly. In my other eye I could still see. But, not the things in front of me. I could see names, and the date that they needed to die. Something clicked and twitched.

‘Cassie Rose Way. Midnight. Midnight. Kill. Times up. Times up. Times up. Times up! Times up! TIMES UP! CASSIE’S TIME IS UP!’  My mind screamed at me.

Death looked at me. He must have saw that look in my eye. “Go. I’m starving anyways. End her life, I’ll be right behind you. I’ll take the soul. Go.” He said sternly.
