Heyyy people! I am back with another chapter for you! So, does anyone want the story to go in a certain direction? I have a brief idea, but you guys are important to the story! I can also edit stuff if you want me to - but no way am I changing the full story. So please don't be a ghost reader, tell me what you do and don't like!!

Oh, and now for the shoutout: maleclove101! Thanks for reading, guys, and I hope you enjoy!

(Y/N) leaned in closer, not wanting to miss any details. She got the impression that Jace brought her here for something, important but complicated.

"Now let's start somewhere simple...well, as simple as this gets. I'm not...normal. Your kind - your family, friends etc - are what we call mundanes. My family and I aren't mundanes; we are called Shadowhunters."

He said the word as if it were the most important, honorable thing that anyone could possibly be. His eyes shone, and he seemed to know what he was talking about. (Y/N) couldn't possibly believe that this was made up, it was his reality.

"Now, here's the more complicated bit. It'll most likely seem crazy to you, but it is true.
Shadowhunters hunt demons. They ravage the earth, destroying whatever gets in their way. Your kind - mundanes - can't see them, hear them, or even sense their presence in this world. It is like that with Shadowhunters; you can't see us. Except, well, you can. That makes you special, (Y/N). That either means that you are a Shadowhunter or a mundane with The Sight."

(Y/N) didn't move. She just stared, waiting for someone to laugh, for Jace to tell her it was all a joke. This didn't happen. The look in Jace's eyes, his concern, it was all real. He was worried he had told her too much too early, she knew that much. But she had to prove him wrong. She could digest this information, she could learn to accept it. But...what about her family?

"You can't tell anyone - your family, your friends, no one. If they knew, it would completely disrupt the balance of this world. Our existence is upheld by the Law. The biggest Law is that we protect mundanes, but we don't let them see who we are."

They have their own Law?? (Y/N) fought the urge to laugh, but only just. This was like Marvel, DC Comics, basically any superhero movie ever. But she saw the raw awe (no rhyming intended) in his eyes, his posture, in him in general. There was no way she could let him down. She nodded slowly, telling Jace that he could continue. He seemed relieved and slightly more relaxed.

"Now, it isn't just us and demons. There are others too. We call them Downworlders. Warlocks, vampires, werewolves, and faeries. Of course, they aren't as...highly ranked as us. We are the top. We are the ones with Angel blood." Jace looked as if he felt superior at that moment, knowing that he had the blood of an angel in him. But (Y/N) couldn't see his happiness.

"Okay, so you have angel blood. Cool. But - these Downworlders, they have to help too, right? I mean, they can't be that evil! You act as if they are just as bad as demons, if not worse!"

Jace's cheeks darkened slightly. "Well, they aren't quite that bad, but... we still come out on top. It's been like that for hundreds of years, and it isn't as if I alone can change that..."

(Y/N) stared at Jace,  her face flushed with anger. She wondered how she ever thought that this boy was so amazing. All he is is a self-centered, arrogant brat.

"You know what?" She shouted, in a rage, "I don't care what you Shadowhunters do, how superior you seem to think you are. If all Shadowhunters really are like this, then I want nothing to do with them. And especially nothing to do with you. Now, if you'll excuse me, my step-father will be wondering where I am, and I need to get him some bread. I would normally say it was nice meeting you, except it really wasn't. Enjoy the rest of your day with your snobby Shadowhunter buddies." At that, she turned around - purposely flicking her hair over her shoulder - and sauntered off. She could only hope that it had the desired effect, as she couldn't turn around to check. It did.

Jace stared after her, wondering what he did wrong. Perhaps Downworlders weren't all bad, but he was only repeating what he had learned. Perhaps it wasn't the best of phrases...he just hadn't expected that much of a reaction. But this girl...she was something else. He needed to win her back - but how?

A plan began to unravel in his mind. It was brilliant. There were a few problems, though - but he had Isabelle and Alec. It was time to call upon his siblings. Oh, how he loved the ways of parabatai...Alec probably already knew that he needed him.

I am so sorry this chapter took so long, but I kept adding more to it, then deleting it again. I tend to do that with my chapters quite often. I  hope that you liked this chapter, though!
